Howdy! I am looking for some info,
The rear brake on the Vision was working when I parked it.Started to go for a ride and I have to pump it to get it to brake in the rear. Both resouvers ( hard word for me to spell) are full the front brake works like it should,
What do Ineed to check before I take it in for repair?

What year is your Vision? When was the last time the brakes were bled?

You should bleed your own rear brake system and see if that remedies the issue.

Bet You have a 08. You bleed the center bleeder on the right front caliper and you will have rear break. The 08 had a bad rear break line and in 09 they changed it. Mine did it two years ago and bleed it and have never had the problem again

I've heard of this - pretty common when bike sits for a few months. Change fluid, bleed half dozen times.

My first Vison was a 08, I took it in at 28,000 miles for some maint and they had a 2009 on the floor with 5,000miles on it and was more loaded than the 2008, That was 4 years a go. I think I will try that bleeding idea.

Odd as this may seem-bleed the front right caliper at the lower valve centered between the two banjo connection-not the one on top. mine did this once to me and since bleeding I've not had it reoccur.

As already suggested.....bleed the center bleeder on the right front caliper. Five minutes and you are set.

I had the same issue. I would bleed the brakes through the front caliper only to have the problem come back after a while. It seems to happen when you don't ride the bike often. I bled the brake again and now I try to ride the bike everyday at least to work and back and I haven't had the problem for a while now. I talked to a mechanic at Arizona victory and he said it was pretty common for the 2008 vision.

My 09 has had the same issue since day one.... it's my little reminder to check the brakes. Bleeding the brakes is an easy thing to do- takes 5 minutes.

if your bike is a 09 I bet its a early production one. They said some place on the line did not get a good crimp.
My bike sits for five months in the garage and today it was zero degrees. Any how only had the rear break fail once

Since my 09 has been sitting through the winter and weather does not permit riding, decided to flush, replace brake fluid and bleed all lines today, just for good measure so it's ready for this riding season. Also for good measure, took triple tree off, checked and greased steering head bearings. While having forks off, took to dealer to replace fork oil. Just got bike all back together. Now just waiting for all the snow to melt and weather to break to ride. It's been a long winter here in Iowa!

My 2008 has sat for a few Months. My wife had a friend come in town, and she gave her her van. The wife
took my truck, so the Vision had to get me to work. No rear break the way there and home. I am just responding
to this thread so i can find it quick.

I might look into this "bleeding" thing. Sounds messy. I got duck tape to stop the bleeding though. Imagine, my
headlamps have out lasted my break line. Now if a headlamp went out, time to trade in.

Not really messy, just take your time. I've never had the issue folks describe, but I did replace my rear caliper and did a gravity bleed with no issues. I just opened the line and watch it flow out into a pan, when it was a steady stream, I shut it off, pumped up and I was done.

You sort of left out the other half of the bleeding process. If he just follows what you said; he'll suck air right back in....

thanks to the wisdom on here, i now have rear brakes, my bike sat for 3+months due to work commitments and the clutch slave cylinder failed ( this bike is telling me dont leave me in the shed.
So i got that sorted with a new slave cylinder then i went to go for a ride no rear brakes!!!
So after reading the forum, i bleed the right hand middle bleeder on the right front caliper and rear brake is better than before!!, A reasonable amount of air came out. thanks folks

What did we ever do before these excellent tech forums? My 2008 Vision gets a squishy rear brake every winter. In the past I flushed out the entire system, about two hours, to correct that. After reading this thread, I hooked up my hose, pumped and closed the bleed screw three times. First pump was air, second two produced about a thimble full of fluid. Pedal is now firm, done in one minute!! Thank you for the wisdom, love it!!
