I'm installing just the Cyclops HID.

I'm hoping that I can install it without dismantling the faring.

In order to install the HID you pretty much must remove the headlamp and in order to remove the headlamp you pretty much have to almost remove the fairings. When it comes to the Vision headlamp there really isn't any easy shortcuts. You are going to be at this project for most of a day.

Opening up the front of the bike & completely removing the headlight module is the right way to do this. I would, at the very least, replace the headlight bulbs while you have easy access. My Vision came stock with the HID cyclops light & since I went to all HID I haven't used it at all & no bulb replacements for going on three years/30K miles.

Be very careful with the retaining wire. If that assembly breaks, the whole lens has to be replaced.

@ ByteN2it , you would be the perfect person to ask this then.... i was thinking about adding HID lights to my 2011 vision (already has cyclops HID) . i have read mixed reviews on doing this in a car.. they talk about the housings not being designed for HID and something about how the HID bulbs work.. sorry i cant give specifics about that. More importantly i wanted to hear from someone that has had these long term... do you have any issues with Cars flashing you high beams and people telling you that your glaring them... Im afraid to do this upgrade and then get a ticket or cause other issues (accident or other wise).

There's a very distinct horizontal cut off with HID bulbs that can be adjusted-they are still VERY bright. A very small percentage of my riding is at night and the only time I got flashed was when I was loaded & 2 up and needed to adjust the beam-it was a cop that flashed me & I gave him a flash of the the high beams and we went our separate ways-I'll take what I see as increased safety, night & day, over the slim chance of legal complications-plus I don't want to have to change a Vision bulb for a long time-they work for me.

When buying your HID kit be sure you get the ones that have the shroud around the bulb. DDM Tuning makes a kit for the Vision that has the right shroud. It will keep the light from glaring so bad versus some of the other kits. Had my kit in my '08 Vision for 4 years before I sold the bike last year without a problem. The only thing is finding a good spot for the ballasts. They get kind of hot and need a good air supply to keep them cool. I tried putting them inside right under the front valance piece at first and they would get too hot and shut off on me during the day. Ended up moving them further down so they would stay cooler. Your pretty much going to have to disassemble the whole fairing to be able get the headlight out to work on it.

Actually these are the better LEDs: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-New-72w-6400lm-H4-9003-HB2-H-L-Cree-LE... I have a set of these in my F150 and they are crazy bright!

Any idea if these LEDs will fit a Vision given the minute amount of room between the lens back and the air filter? The cooling fan may be too big.

I'm currently running a set of LED units from this company https://www.lifetimeledlights.com/led_lights/h4_70w_headlight

They are a huge improvement over the Sylvania Silverstars that I was running. I've never tried or came across another Vision with HID so I don't know any comparasion between LED and HID. They fit with more than enough room for the cooling fan and ballasts.

Lotzafun, that's basically the same LEDs I mentioned above. To me they are just as bright as the HIDs I had in my Vision with just a slight difference in color. The difference was minimal. The HIDs I had were the same color as the factory center HID which is 5000K color so when all three bulbs were on it was BRIGHT. At least with the LEDs the ballast are way smaller and you don't have all that wiring that HIDs require for the "dedicated" power source.

Do you a picture with the LEDs? Do you feel that the cost is worth it?
Thanks

Some of these are listed as HB3 and some as H4, which bulb does the Vision take for high/low beam ?

H4 does the high/low, HB3 does not. You can put a H4 in a HB3 socket and you'll never know the difference. You can't do the reverse.
