Because I'm a bit lazy (even though I've read the Vision Manual), I'm wondering if the rear brake will need to come off when I pull the back tire to install my new-to-me hitch in the next couple months. I mean, my son's going to have to do most of the work even if he doesn't quite know it yet, so it's probably a moot point, but there you go.

Part of my question is related to my old '85 K series beemer...the brake/rotor stayed on the bike when I pulled the back tire.

To install a hitch you will have to remove the rear wheel/tire and as you lower the wheel/tire the brake caliber will come out with it but will still be attached to bike by means of the brake line. Also it is a little easier if you remove the brake pads first.
The trunk will have to be off the bike also and you will need longer bolts and added nuts for the trunk. I just installed one on my Vision and it was not much fun but I got it.

What Kind of hitch are you installing? I put on a Hitch Doctor and did not
remove the rear wheel. Its a bit of fight but better than removing the wheel.

Sorry about the slow response. I just picked up used Bushtec. It'll be another month at least before I get to the installation...the unheated garage is just no fun to work in. The instructions say all I need to do is put 70# of air in the rear shock to move the tire but, personally, I think simply unbolting the shock would move it out of the way enough. Then again, somewhere down the road I'm going to need to pull the rear tire anyway, so it'd be good practice.

Don, did you invert the bolts (install from the bottom with the nuts in the trunk) when you installed the hitch?
