One of the biggest issues I have with my 2010 Vision is that, as an old retired fart who's used to living full time on the road, if I wash my bike 2 or 3 times per year, that's it. This Ocean Blue Vision of mine makes me uncomfortable because it's almost too pretty to let it stay dirty for long. And because it's almost too pretty, I've thought about buying a pair of those toe protectors for when I stretch out because it'd be a shame to scuff that pretty paint up. Like many things Victory however, I have trouble laying out $45 or $50 of my retirement money.

So I'm in Wallyworld the other day picking up a new wiring harness for the bike and camper. Right next to the harnesses I notice a Reese "Sure Step"...made of EPDM Rubber whatever that is. Apparently you can put'em the steps of your home or the running boards on your bike or truck. I made the leap and took 30 minutes to carefully cut out my own home-made toe protectors. I wish I had a camera for pictures but for $7.50/pair, I don't think they look too awful bad on the bike. The design on the rubber itself isn't the same as the running boards but that's irrelevant in my mind.

I bought and installed the Victory's "toe protectors" and I have to say.... I haven't had a need to use them.

A wasted purchase. At least for me. There's no way ...even if I'm "stretching out" that my boot tips are going to touch that paint...

Good on ya mate for making you own.

I purchased the factory guards for Lucilla as I knew my big feet would soon do damage.

Sure enough, they are very scuffed up. Especially the right hand side.

Would love to see a pix of yours.

Here you go Pops and I'm again reminded of why most of my pictures will never make me any money. They don't match the design on the stock floor boards but I'm of the form-follows-function train of thought, so the looks really don't bother me.

Very utilitarian indeed. But functional!

I taped off the area I wanted protected and sprayed on a few coats of Plasti-Dip. Works great!

I could of used something like those last year. I was laying asphalt for the summer and the tips of my boots got covered in it, which led to a bunch of scratches on the shifter side.

When I bought my 2010 Ocean Blue/Gold Vision that was the first thing I put on it because my Sasquatch feet kept marking the paint. The Victory protectors were more expensive but they have held up well. Being a retired old fart myself I love my Vision but am laid up at the moment with a bad back. Looking forward to being able to ride again keeps me going.

They look good! They remind me of something I put on the steps on the ladder for the pool when the kids were little. Kept most of us from slipping.
