2 parter,

Seeing, if anyone, has a good online retailer, cheaper than dealer, for OEM parts?

I have a trip to Fresno, CA coming up and am wondering in my noodle, if I should just run it on the bike. It's a good time of the year. One is the distance and like most folks its a out, stay maybe the week and back home. Right around 2,000 miles one way. So yeah a bit of a jaunt. I like the idea of it, but there's that thing in the back of your head, that says DAM*, that's a long way one way. 1000 miles jaunts, I'd rather ride than fly! Just throwing both of those items out there for the masses. Enjoy!

Don Wood Victory for OEM parts. You have to put the parts in a cart before you can see the price though. 1000 miles is nothing for the Vision. If you take your time and just make the mandatory 200 mile stops for gas and eats you can do it in about 16 hours. Think IBA. I usually do about 600 miles a day on my yearly trips with my brother. It takes us about 12 to 13 hours depending on how long we take to eat at stops. And we do like to eat! LOL!!!!

yeah, what he said. I would go 800 miles, though your young, 1,000 mile day won't hurt you. Depends what you want to get out of the ride. 1,900 miles to Sturgis and I did it in three days, even with "trouble". Needed a tire the first day, changed the oil the second day, and the Bentley stopped dead 300 miles from Sturgis the 3rd day. Got it to the dealer just 13 miles away and it mysteriously started running again after it was pushed into the bay. I fiddled with it for 2 hours on the side of the road, and they did absolutely nothing except turn the key on and pushed the button. 3rd time was the charm. I've ran it since then with zero issues.

atvtinker, yeah, the 1000 miles no problem, its the whole 2000 miles one direction, that has me pondering. After about 4 hours it starts to feel like I'm riding on two planks of wood on both joints at the location where the leg attaches to the butt.

Have you ever tried an Ultimate bead seat cover? Now you would think that hard plastic beads would be even worse, but believe me I'm sold on them. I think it is just the fact that your butt is actually off the seat and can keep cooler is the reason why it works. I had it with my Vision and then my Triumph and now the Cross Country.

2000 mile trips are nothing for my brother and me. We just came back from a west Texas trip that was 2100 miles and we did in 5 days and that was with sightseeing involved. We rode from Shreveport, LA to Big Bend National park and around west Texas. We did an earlier trip to Key West, FL and back stopping at Daytona for Bikefest back in the spring and that was 2700 miles in 7 days. Of course we spent a whole day in Daytona and in Key West.

Jimtom, seeing as how you are just south of me, we have about the same distance to travel to get there. You sure make for an interesting argument. Kinda thinking if I add a few days of just vacation in with it, that might be the ticket. I don't want to have to push, and ride, and push to make sure I get there and back. Maybe my brain is just in vacation mode. Take two weeks and be gone.

If that's an option, I would definitely add a few days to savor it.

LOL! I play the devils advocate all the time. If I can't travel at the time , I encourage others.

I had a two week trip in California for work. I took vacation there and back and was reimbursed the amount of the airfare and meals for two days. I savored the trip, rode Wolf Creek Pass, saw Four Corners, (met another Vision rider there, what are the chances in 2010?) went by the grand canyon, rode the loneliest road in America and the Mother Road, visited a cousin, uncle and a few aunties, and met some very interesting people, and a few other things I can't remember at this time. Loved every second.

I have done 1k days back to back. RI to CA in 3 days back in '06 on my '03 V92C. Many others until my cancer treatment. Now I do 850 or less most of the time.
If your seat sucks that will be bad scene. Anny has a really comfy seat for me.
I recommend doing some 7-800 mile days before trying 1k. It is tiring even after you get use to it. Just so you know I am 62 now.
Always give yourself extra time just in case, mechanical failure, heavy rains, really hot days.
Enjoy whatever you decide.

True! Rule number one is to ride you're own ride, you're not in a race. While I'll have a goal of 1,000 miles in a day, it's not worth killing yourself over. In all of my trips, I've probably did 6-8 1,000 mile days. I have one certified iron butt for 1,000 miles that I accomplished in 15 hours. On my Gold Wing it nearly killed me. On the Vision it was hard to get off, but knew I should. Once, I was so tired, yet didn't realize it until I stopped, I laid down, only taking off my jacket, and slept a solid 8 hours. I realized the potential danger I had put myself in, but I busted out right at 1,000 miles in about 18 hours. Give yourself 4 days either way on 2,000 mile trip, that'll get you at least 500 miles a day with plenty of rest time. I think you'll find you will put in more than that a day, and you'll see some things you've never seen before. My ditch plan is call U-Haul at any point along the way. Let us know how it goes.

Honda east offers 20% off if you're on victory forums.
You have to ask for Paul
Where i am back in 99 a guy started a local victory club. He went to every victory shop and set up 10% off. We have a group of over 100 girls and guys.
When a dealer has a open house or demos some of us will show up to help them out
