Victory Motorcycles reveals production engine based on Project 156
and signals next product...

Milan Italy and Long Beach CA November 18, 2015: Victory Motorcycles today revealed the production
version of the engine that powered Project 156 up Pikes Peak this summer, and will power an upcoming
1200cc class motorcycle.

The engine was designed to deliver the strongest power and performance in its class, and was shown off
in a concept motorcycle built by European builder Urs Erbacher. Erbacher is well-known in the European
custom motorcycle scene taking several top awards and gaining international attention.

Erbacher's concept dubbed the "Victory Ignition Concept" was custom built around the first preproduction
engine off of the line in Osceola Wisconsin. The concept features an aggressive stance and
frames the engine with a cast aluminum chassis, performance suspension and brakes with an aggressive
Project 156-inspired paint scheme. "I'm proud not only of this build, but what it represents for the
future of the Victory Motorcycles brand," says the Swiss builder. "Getting full reigns to wrap the new
engine in an interesting bike is a real highlight in my career, and from what I can see any production bike
utilizing this powertrain will be a fantastic ride."

"Project 156 is a purpose built racer that took our engine design to one of the most challenging races on
the planet - it was a proving ground like no other that set the bar very high for our team," says Victory
Motorcycles General Manager Rod Krois. "This engine platform, which uses designs from other Polaris
products having sold over 200,000 engines, will deliver on the promise of modern American muscle that
is in the DNA of every current and future product we sell. Victory will continue to aggressively plot a new
course for itself and where an American motorcycle brand can go."

"Victory Motorcycle - from day one - has been a brand designed to deliver outstanding in-class performance,
reliability and handling," says Steve Menneto, President of the Polaris Motorcycles
Division. "Our new engine, Urs' concept and news we'll be sharing at the IMS in New York City will plot
the direction not only of this fantastic new platform, but of this brand. We will continue to design and
build the best motorcycles in every class we compete."

The liquid-cooled four-valve engine has a 60-degree vee angle, utilizing double overhead cams that
promise to make class-leading power. Additional details of the engine will be revealed in the months to
come.

The display at EICMA, the international trade and consumer show, will be open for the public starting
Thursday November 19, and continues through the weekend. The Polaris stand is located in Hall 13. For

Fans of American performance motorcycles are encouraged to keep an eye on Victory Motorcycles in
the coming weeks for more new product and concept motorcycles announcements.

I'm impressed, but wished it was a new production model and not just a concept model. I wouldv'e preferred mid mount controls, single sided swingarm, and single rear shock to Bea true modern sportingmodel and it may incorporate these changes in a true production model. In the bikes current form it seems to be a muscle/power cruiser in the line of the Diaval or V Max. If this sees the light of production day in 2016 there may be hope of seeing this liquid cool tech in a Vision touring platform that can truly compete and unseat the main recent kings of the touring class. I commend Polaris for beginning to take a clean look at the Victory line, but they need to do more faster. Oh how I would love to see a Vision size of this engine in a Vision chassis along with the other improvements others here and in the touring bike industry have incorporated in their designs. Time. will tell.

It seems to lean toward the "bobber" side of things and looks like it's got some good ideas...concepts, to it. I'm hoping they'll go with a single-sided swing arm for all their bikes myself...especially the Vision because it's so easy to get to everything with all the body work. I'm curious why they changed the V-layout to 60 degrees too...seems like "simply" turning the existing engine into a water cooled bike might be viable as well. Not as aggressive though so that could be a lot of the thinking behind the design.

Lol!

I've been waiting 15 years for the new and improved Sport Cruiser. This concept bike looks good, but those forward controls have to go.

Nice Victory releases a concept, but Indian releases another version of the scout.

I'm glad to see Victory has been developing (albeit minimally) in the shadows of Indian's takeover of Polaris' On-Road Marketing & Development budget and workforce. For the last 4 years Victory has been the redheaded stepchild of Polaris, producing nothing new nor making any significant improvements to aging models. It remains to be seen if the great engineering minds of Indian (which were poached from Victory) will refocus on what I feel to be a stalled brand that has lost identity.

Now, with the Empulse electric bike and possibility of a new engine on a concept bike (3rd-party designed & built), one must wonder if Victory has jumped tracks to be identified as a Sport bike company. I'm still longing for news of a new (not repackaged) Victory heavy cruiser but development seems to be going in a different direction.

Finally, a critique on the Iginition engine: One of the design highlights that has long been a signature of Victory has been its clean flowing lines (both body & engine). The new models have discarded this design philosophy for a more intricate, bolted-on, broken-up, edgy Transformer look. The motor's bumpy, nook & cranny, exposed channeling look reminds me of an old Honda/Suzuki. The lazy man in me sees a cleaning nightmare.

Here are some concept drawing that Victory put out in an email a while back, in the description it said 120+ CI liquid cooled engine... I know its just concept but the Slingshot started out as one of these surveys...

You can see where the "crash" bar attaches it has a radiator similar to the Scout and Ignition...

Anyone who is worried that this is only a concept bike (for now) and isn't a production bike is nutz. WOW! - I gotta have one. WAY cooler looking than a scout, And I still think the scout is really cool.
Dear Polaris: can I put money down on one yet? And BTW - I need the forward controls, my body doesn't bend like it used

Well, HD has a large network. Lots of Dealers, and high visibility. Money too. And remind me again how well Buell worked out. I'm just sayin'....

Buell failed because no one is willing to pay twice as much for a bike that does the same #'s as a jap 600cc....

Buell failed because Harley Davidson and Eric buell had differences on direction. Then harley davidson sold the Buell name to a company that trashed the brand. EBR ERIC BUELL RACING was the new company that did not last long because, I will agree, he out prices his vehilces. You can now buy one at half the original price. My opinion is that Victory will take its time and hopefully produce an American sport brand obviously under the victory name. We shall see!

It's all about the engine !!! Victory could put that thing in a multitude of platforms. But it needs to be an ass kicker. It states in the advertisement "Class leading power". YEAH, but what class ?? Against a 1200cc 68 HP Sportster ?? Well of course it's gonna dominate. But can it take on the likes of a 1200cc Ducati monster or even the new Triumph 1200cc Thruxton ?? Only time will tell.........

2nd custom bike using the DOHC engine but still no specs. Hmmm maybe Victory will use the engine in several different platforms at different performance levels......

New Orleans, La,
personally I prefer the Zack Ness rendition. It have mid mounts and a nice bikini faring, but I would like a 2 into 1 exhaust system. I also would like to see this engine in a sport touring concept chassis and body work sort of in the vein of Motus MST-R. I think this new engine would be a great start for such a bike and something the younger riders might want to ride like the 30-50 group. JMHO.
