Enjoy. I'm riding Rolling Thunder from Western NC to DC on Memorial Day weekend. Riding up to a Sons of Liberty Riders meet up as well. Paying my respects to Dad in Arlington which. I do annually anyway. This will be my first Rolling Thunder officially. I'll pass on Florida. If you ever want privacy, then I would do Ocracoke and relax. Travel safe, conceal carry.

Ocracoke Island. Keep it to our group please. You're wives will love the shops, you'll love the solitude. Live like a pirate. Two of the ferry rides require reservations and cost money. The Hatteras ferry is free and first come first served but it runs about every 45 minutes. The other ferry from the mainland take about 2.5 to 3 hours depending on water conditions. All fun. Blackbeards ship, Queen Anne's Revenge remains were located just off the island. There is a small Brittish sailors cemetery on the island, they were helping us and sunk by a U boat. It's a very cool place. Good seafood out there too. Exceptional beaches with sunrise and sunsets.

The beaches out there get ranked in the top 10 in the world every year. Great place to fly a kite if you still remember how wink wink. I would stay away from Blackbeards hotel, the beds are as hard as the ones were aboard ship. Pony Island Motel is good, has a pool and best breakfast on the island last time I was there.
