Did any of you guys notice that Victory sponsored NHRA rider Matt Smith won the finale event of the 2016 NHRA schedule in Pomona with a hole shot victory over reigning and 6x world champ Eddie Krawiec. Now granted the only thing that's factory is the Gunner body work and the graphics, but still it is a first win for Victory in the highly competitive NHRA Pro Stock motorcycle class. WAY TO GO Matt Smith and his entire team and much success in the future.

The Victory Team will have a more durable and maybe powerful engine next year, Victory applied for and was approved to use a different bottom end that uses a one piece crank on plain bearings instead of the Harley like flywheel assembly now in use. Could make a significant difference.

The underdogs. His dad is also a IHRA/NHRA Champion. Despite his fame, His dad, Ricky, puts nothing into his son's success, he's earned it just like he did. I met Matt and his dad when Matt was a senior in high school and I was an Army recruiter. Ricky wanted him to go do something to get away, fearing he would fall to the local drug culture and favored him joining the Army. Matt, a young dreamer wanting be like his dad, wanted to race. I know dad is proud of his decision.

Wonder what the price tag of that cylinder / crankcase is. Real nice machine work there. Race engines tend to have all the nice looking parts on the inside. Dont expect that level of parts in production bikes..

The engine is built by S&S. The engine itself is a 60 degree V-twin, 159.87 cubic inches. Bore is 5.125 and stroke is 3.875. The cylinders are cast as part of the block like a car. The crankshaft is a one piece which is cut down from billet steel with side by side rods on a single throw shaft. The heads are probably very similar to the current "NHRA Buell" engines. The advantage will be increased rpm because of stability. Could make 20 more HP than the current G2 buell engines.
