Instead of going with the discontinued Garmin 2720, I ordered the Garmin 2820 for my Vision. Prior to ordering, I spoke with Garmin Tech Support and they said the connections are identical.

However, I received the following email from my dealer this morning and am confused. While most dealers are geared more towards engines than electronics, it seems that we could use some assistance. Here's his message:

The 2820 Street Pilot arrived here yesterday. It does mount up to the Vision
mounting bracket perfectly. The only challenge that we have is the wire
harness. The end that plugs into the Vision harness is completely different.
I'll contact Garmin and Victory this morning to see if they can supply the
appropriate harness, otherwise we may have to hard wire that end of the
harness. I'll keep you informed.

Can anyone help?

Where did the PWR wire come from? Did it come with the Victory mount?
Or did it come from Garmin? The one from Victory should work, I'm thinking.

I don't know. I'm letting the dealer do the installation and won't be taking delivery until all is working properly. While I'm not a mechanic, I've had issues with other bikes in the past where dealers would promise they would get things fixed "later." From experience, I outfitted the bike with the desired electronics during the purchase process and feel it's the dealer's responsibility to insure all works well prior to delivery. I know that once I accept the bike, this issue will become my problem. The dealer is cooperating, but it's apparent that Victory is not giving the dealer much assistance.

When we decided to go with the newer Garmin unit, he checked with both Victory and Garmin and was told there would be no issues with the installation and operation. I checked with Garmin and was told the same.

If you can give detailed instructions, I'll be happy to forward them to the dealer. I'm sure he'll be open to all suggestions.

Thank You!

The harness your dealer needs to use is the harness supplied with the mount from Victory.

Thanks. I just got off the phone from the dealer and the Garmin 2820 came with a cigarette lighter adapter. He will take the cable from the Victory Garmin 2720 and use it on the 2820.

Thanks for your help.

The GPS Mount should have come with a cable that plugs into Vision harness just to right of "gas tank" I did this myself and I don't work for Victory. I am shocked how uninformed most dealerships and wrenches are about this bike.

Ditto above; you paid for the mount and the cable that comes with it. If all your dealer got for the $89.00 is the aluminum mount, then he needs to have them supply the cable- it's supposed to be in the box from Victory!
