(CO) Beechers Island Rescue Ride
Description :On September 22nd 1868 troops from near by Fort Wallace (The Fightingest Fort of the West) were dispatched to rescue Major George Forsyth and his fellow comrades who were being besieged in the Colorado territory for the previous nine days by a outnumbering force of Cheyenne, Arapahoe and Sioux Indians.

The complete and true story is much more interesting and animated than I could ever tell and its worth doing the research on the Battle of Beechers Island also known as The Battle of Arikaree Forks if your interested in our shared Colorado history during a period of time when this area was known as the new frontier.

To mark this historical event in Colorado history and to pay homage to those that serve in the armed forces today in the frontiers of Iraq and Afghanistan we have a planned ride event to Beechers Island memorial.

We leave Castle Rock, Colorado at 9:00 a.m and make a stop in Limon, Colorado to pick up any one who wishes to join the ride approximate time 10:45 a.m. Please have your ride waiver signed and available for the RC..
