Says that after riding the VV, the Harley EG felt like a minibike. That should put some folks in a great mood for discussions......LMAO

They must have made some mistakes, seemed like the Vision was a better choice than HD.

I shared the article with a work friend and Winger. Here is reply:

Nice article, but why would you want to send me an article that says compared to the Wing the Vision is slower, makes too much mechanical noise, has luggage compartments too small, the radio and other controls are small, the stereo sucks, the GPS is not integrated and it has no reverse or ABS brakes? After reading that article all I see it has good (maybe better) is a seat and it makes people wonder what the heck it is.

I am glad you are happy with your ride since you are too short legged to fit a good bike, please don't let me discourage you but don't try to make yourself feel better about your second rate bike by sending me articles from a cruiser rag.

Oh and have a great day ;-)

Here's my reply:

Certainly say what you will and glean from the article what you want to read.

The points are comfort and handling which is what you ultimately want. Speed as you may be referring to is not a detriment to the performance of a touring bike unless you are out to race, which I am not. Never had the desire, nor will I ever have for ABS unless it is forced upon me reluctantly. I have no problem with the stereo and it is plenty loud even going along at interstate speed, so I'm not sure what they may be considering. No problems finding any controls and all are nicely placed for me. Vision does have a GPS that is intergrated, so that is also a new one on me. Comfort is phenomenal since I have never cramped or struggled to find the shifter or brake as I had to do with the GL1200 and the GL1500 and I also cramped often on them, to the point of having to stop and get off to get my bones back in order. That has never happened on the Vision.

I can sit in living room comfort in town or open highway on the Vision. The seat height and narrowness does away with the need for reverse even on a downward slope with the pillion onboard. On the noise, give me a break, it's a motorcycle for crying out loud. If you want quiet get a Lexus. The noise that he is referring to is negligible to me or anyone else I spoken to that rides a Vision. Sure there is a contrast because even the few days I rode the GL1500 after I got the Vision, I had to look at the tac to be sure it was running.

It is rare for me to do, but I would suggest even a new rider to get a Vision before they would get a Wing. The guy that bought my wing I felt compelled on how much riding experience he had. He was short in stature and agreed the boards were coming off and pegs were going back on. I love the boards, but I mentioned that they are a down right pain on the GL1500. Sorry I cannot speak to the GL1800 but there are folks that have regretted buying their's after taking a spin on the Vision. And I believe the guy in the article said he would buy one too. The Vision has been the easiest bike to ride that I have ever ridden. The first time I sat on it I realized that it is a big bike. But roll on the throttle and that is all gone. Even at the MSF ERC a man who rode a Wing watched us for a while and then came over to tell me he wanted to take the course but he said his Wing was too hard to handle. He was trying to get me to tell him my secret of making a big bike so easy to handle. I was perplexed because that big bike was not easy on that course, but he said I made it look easy. I could only offer the explanation of the engineering of the bike made it easier.

So in short after a long reply, I accept your Winger uneducated rheotoric.

Have an even greater day! ;o)

Good article. Although it was evident that he didn't know that there was luggage available for the compartments. As for the GPS, let me throw this one out: Many of the 'wngers I know, have gone out, and bought another GPS for their bikes. I wonder why that is?? I like mine, as I can take it off, and update it on my laptop, and that really cannot be done on the wing. I am also able to use it in my Z-car, truck, or whatever I wish! I know it is not the latest, and best one out there, but it has saved my butt on finding a few things already. One other thing about the wing's GPS: many of the features are locked out while underway. I know this is a safety feature, especially since the controls are off to the right, and down low, but I just don't like it. -----Metalguy
