Rancho Cucamonga, CA | One issue I had with them was that they eliminate all of the reflective properties of the lenses. If you don't have your lights on (e.g. parked on the side of the road) you are completely invisible at night from behind.
Don't go too dark on the tint either, it can darken it down very quickly to the point that the running lights are invisible in daylight and the brakelights are hard to see as well.
I took mine off and am working to make my bike more visible, not less.

Jasper, MO | I drive a truck for a living and I hate tinted lenses on vehicles. It takes a lot of room to stop a loaded truck, and you can't see those tinted lenses from very far away....................................

Palm Coast Fl. | I lightly tinted mine. Looks much better and doesn't seem to dim the brightness of the tail lights. (Well maybe a little). |

Danville, CA | Buddy did and and hated it. It was too dark and couldn't see a thing.. I would keep them stock and upgrade bulbs to LED's and brighten up impact.. |

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | The LED taillights that Blinkerz makes won't be on the market till spring 2012. Everyone else is simply replacing the 3157 bulbs with LED bulbs.
Autoluminations.com has some nice bright ones. Just be aware that if you replace all 4 brakelights with LEDs, your cruise control will not work unless you put a small resistor into the system (25ohm from brakewire to ground). Also, make sure to get red LEDs. If you get white, a majority of the light they produce will be filtered out by the red lens. |

Westchester Co., NY | I thought a red lense would filter a red bulb, but not a white bulb. What would happen to the cruise control if you replaced the turn signals with LEDs? Or what if you just replaced two of the brake lights with LEDs? |

Rancho Cucamonga, CA | LEDs produce red light only (620-670nm depending on maker). Incandescents and white LEDs produce light in a broad spectrum (400-700nm), then you must filter out all the light spectrum except red using a lens or tint. THe lens does not coler the light red, it simply stops the transmission of all other colors so all you see is red. If you have a red LED and a white LED, both rated at 600 lumens and put a lens in front of them, the red LED will lose very little brightness because the filter is designed to let red light thru. The white LED will become much dimmer because only the red portion of the light can pass thru. The lumen rating for both bulbs are based on total light visible, if you cut out most of the spectrum with a red lens, you only have the red lumens left.
The turn signal have no effect on the cruise control, however the ECM does monitor the turn signal, and if it notices that they are not pulling the expected 27watts for each bulb, it increased the flash rate to let you know you have a bulb burned out. On my 2010, if you replace one turn signal bulb on each side, the rate doubles, both and they no longer work at all. You must install a 6 ohm resistor for each bulb replaced so that the wattage is correct. Obviously we don't use LEDs to save power, the bikes rectifier turns any saved power into wasted heat anyway. We do it for the durability, longevity, brightness and quicker responce time.
The cruise control monitors the brake circuit to make sure it's intact from the negative side back. If it isn't then it will not engage. A Diode (Light Emmiting Diode) only allows current to travel one direction, thus making the cruise control think the circuit is broken. Some LEDs have circuitry to correct this, but I haven't found any bright enough to warrant replacing the incandescents.
As long as you have at least one regular bulb in the circuit, it will show an intact circuit. If you replace the bottom two bulbs with LEDs, you will get a 'sequenced' brakelight effect because the LEDs come on about .2 seconds faster than incandescents. |

Phenix City AL. | I have the tinted tail lights, and like them.I did add extra 3/4 round led lights on the bumpers, they look ok, I am working on a different set up using a led strip. |

Im surprised the cops let you get away with a tinted head light?? Its illegal in most states. I have been stopped twice in my truck here in AZ. Had to strip the tint off. |
