| I just melted my bike cover on my upper right exhaust pipe, and it left a residue on it. Any ideas on how to get it off? Any help is appreciated. :-)

Brighton, TN | Easy cheesy. 0000 steel wool and some quick detailer of your choice (victory, meguiars)! You find the steel wool in the paint departmenta of hardware stores. |

Rockford, IL | While the oven cleaner is probably a bit quicker and easier than the steel wool with detail spray route I'd still probably go the steel wool route. My reasoning is that oven cleaner is pretty harsh, drip it on a painted surface or plastic and you have probably managed to create another problem. If you go the oven cleaner route I'd spray it on a cloth and wipe, maybe even put a cloth underneath to catch any drips. |

| Spray in on a rag and wipe in on and let it soak a bit. I've removed many boot and tennis marks without damaging anything. |

Kansas City, MO | another idea is to try laquer thinner (or something with Acetone in it), I used some paint brush cleaner I had in the garage. Soak a rag and let it sit on it for 10 min or so. Then use another rag and some chrome polish (may have to use your fingernail a little bit too).
I just did this a few months ago after fusing part of the leg on my rainsuit onto the pipe. It worked great and the residue literally flaked right off. There is no mark whatsoever left on the pipe. ...can't say the same for my rainsuit. |

Memphis | My secret weapon is glass stovetop cleaner. I like Weiman because you can find it just about anywhere. Put a dab on a microfiber towel and there is zero percent chance of scratching anything and no harsh chemicals spraying about. Just work it lightly and let the liquid do the work. Magic stuff. |

| Like the man said easy off oven cleaner. read instruction and what doesn't come off with the oven spray will burn a way in time

East TN | DO NOT use STEEL WOOL...it will scratch the chrome...I had melted my winter heated pants to th exhaust..Tried EVERYTHING (oven cleaner, chrome cleaner, etc.) Bought a little bottle of Flitz ( http://www.flitz.com/ ) and it came off in about 30 seconds...This stuff is SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!

Acetone, used in nail polish remover. I bought a 32 ounce can for a couple of bucks at ACE hardware 10 years ago and I am just now almost out. Use it on chrome and it takes off almost everything with little effort. I have used it numberous time getting plastic, rubber, and other crap off my pipes. BUT......... DO NOT LET IT TOUCH YOUR PAINT! Acetone will take paint off anything! USE CAUTION!
And never on hot pipes as it is flammable!!

East TN | With Flitz you use it on cold/cool surfaces...Apply it with a towel and wipe it off with a paper towel...less than2 minutes you're done...Stuff works on all kinds of stuff too...Made my front and rear wheels look like NEW in probably 20 minutes...The stuff doesn't even have to dry ...Apply it and then wipe it off... |

Acetone is extremely flammable with a flashpoint of -4 degrees F, and wear skin protection as it is transdermal and will get into your blood stream through your unprotected skin and your liver and/or kidneys. Vinyl gloves NOT latex should work, latex will melt in acetone. |

Acetone has been the major ingrediant in nail polish remover for years. So it ain't that dangerous. Otherwise women everywhere in the world would be experiencing spontaneous combustion! LOL And it's cheap. But hey, ya'll spend as much as you want on oven cleaner, Flitz, whatever. I remember using acetone in the High School lab as a final rinse when washing test tubes as it evaporates very quickly and leaves no residue.
Cleans my chrome pipes with a careful but simple "apply a very small amount to a cloth and rub the dirty area of your chrome for a few seconds. Repeat as needed" But again, do not get this on your paint! Or just like oven cleaner it will make your paint disappear!
