W'ford Tx | Been noticing that my shock will keep air in it for a few days then it's out completely. I know it's an air shock but nothing beyond that. Is it an actual suspension bag? The only thing I can imagine is like on class 8 trucks that have the rubber suspension bags. If that's the case I know those can be repaired. Dunno if anyone has tried some back yard repairs with stop leak or green slime or anything. Any advice is welcome. |

Edmonton Alberta, Canada | Find the air leak, could be valve stem, or air line to shock. May be a simple fix, and not the shock it self. |

I've got a slow leak, the shock works otherwise, just got to keep it aired up about once a week to two weeks. If I shot some slime in there to see if that would help, what would be the harm? Self-contained, plug the hole and all is well, so it would seem. Can we get some insight. I know, the bottom-line, right thing to do is replace, so I don't think anyone needs a lecture. Talking mechanics here... |

Beer Collins, Colorado (there is no fort) | Do you keep a cap on the valve stem? If not get a nice metal cap with an O-ring & give it a try. The shock has oil in it and I think a stop leak would create a huge mess inside the bladder. |

Speaking for myself, all is well as far as the valve stem and the cap, using a metal one with a rubber gasket. There appears to be some moisture, but given the riding that I do, and the oil sensor leaks a little (yeah, I know, should replace it too.) But as long as the mess stays inside, who cares. I see the problems in doing these things, and it could finally give in and blow out forcing to have it replaced on the road. I think we were hoping someone has experimented and have some documented results. I think I'll order a shock and then put the stuff in the old one just to see what happens. |

| I thought I read that there is a slight bit of oil in the shock also. Would the Slime react with this? But at over 125,000 miles changing the shock out may be required. I heard a speech during a rally that suggested replacement of the stock shock with the Penske shock would improve handling. Just throwing some random information out there.

W'ford Tx | I havn't really taken the time to get there and look at the shock. If it's an air ride shock the only thing I could figure is that is it rubber suspension bag like what's on the 18wheelers (they're made by good year). Or is it like the old school hot rod air shocks? There can be moisture in automotive tires so IF there is oil in the shock I wouldn't see why it would cause a negative reaction to the shock itself. I just don't now how the rear shock is set up. If it's an air ride bag I would figure the slime or stop leak would repair the problem or prolong the amount of air that's in there before leaking out. |

There is oil in the shock a long with valves. |

Rockford, IL | There have a couple of reports of the air line leaking. Its an easy five minute check, remove you seat and fill the shock up and spray some soapy water on the line and see if it bubbles. |

New Bohemia, VA | is there an aftermarket air shock for the Vision? I see the double adjustable by Penske, but it is not an air shock and it would be hard to adjust this one. Any comments, or other suggestions? |

Tucson, AZ | Had mine replaced under extended warranty. Mines a 2008 and if you look at part numbers, the replacement is different. I was told the original had bad internals, thus the new shock and part number. Lost the oil out of it......

New Bohemia, VA | I've had a slow leak for some time now. I was looking at the different part number last night and the rocker/trunion also has a differnt part number. So now, I'm wondering do I need to get that also. There's a used shock on eBay for an '08, but I don't want to pay that much for a used original '08 shock. It doesn't seem to be getting any worse, so I have some time to figure that one out. |

Peru, IN | I'm cheap (er, I mean "cost effective" ) but after 125k miles, I think I'd happily pay for a brand new shock. You've more than got your moneys worth out of it. Or just buy a brand new shock attached to a brand new Vision and put 125k miles on that, too.

Albuquerque, NM | Snoop Leak Detector is great for locating air leaks. Problem is access to all the possible leak points. If the problem was mine, I'd check shock pressure frequently and determine what the loss is per day/week. If it is alot, remove and locate the leak with the snoop. Repair or replace.....

It started leaking around the 60,000 mile or so, and its a slow leak. I may have been able have it replaced under warranty, but I doubt, and I didn't want to give it up for any length of time.
