Well gang, the truth in what happened is now clear. After 2 replacements at my cost in parts and 4 shipping costs, I finally received the 'defective' lower back, almost a month after supplying Trell with the replacement. He had the return label but couldn't be bothered to put it in the mail.
Upon inspecting it it was very obviously damaged by the installer or user, or the hinges installed out of the correct position. In trying to tell this to him I got rudely hung up on rather quickly, making it appear he well knew this and was only trying to get over on us to replace his mistake. The part had 2 very distinct dents/chafing marks directly in the center of the mounting holes, on the backside. They appear to be from the deflector hinges having been loose and allowed the panel to go past its normal range of travel and allowed to beat against the ridge in the hinge top, or they were repeatedly pulled in too hard. Either way, it is very obvious by the depth of the damage and the cracks in the chrome at these points which then only spread out from these 2 locations.

If Mr. Cantrell was a man of honor he'd own up to these facts, but even after providing him with the photos clearly showing the truth he prefers to hold to his story and ignored what he clearly saw in them.
Instead of manning up he decided to continue to knock me and the product and only look out for himself at my expense.

I'll post the pics when I get on the PC for those who prefer to see facts from a respected vendor vs listen to unfair and highly false claims by a clearly dishonorable customer. I must have sold 500+ of these and NEVER had any issues, let alone like this.

This is the first time in 6 years that I've felt a customer was trying to get one past us and he succeeded. Way to go Oliver, hope your proud of yourself.

Sadly Will, I have been in your spot. Tried to sell something on a different forum, the guy had buyers remorse, trashed me, trashed the product, even got PayPal to take his word with no evidence, and forced me to take it back. Instead of being honorable, they decide to whine until they get their way. Sad. Most of us know the true quality of your work.

Thank you for that Rick.

This bothered me enough after how I was treated repeatedly by Trell that I dropped what I was doing at home with my family on my one day off and drive in to the shop to post the pictures since my home PC is on the fritz.

With most companies you must first return a reportedly defective part for inspection before replacement. I chose to get the parts out as fast as possible so there was no inconventience nor would he have been without a deflector for even a moment. If I followed procedure I would have seen this operator induced problem and not have been obligated to do anything about it. Instead I took the high road and took him at his word, even though I asked for photos and never got them. Since this is the first incident of its kind in 6 years in operation, it won't make me change my breaking of the rules for a customer when I feel it necessary, but it will make me think harder as to who I will do it for, and why.

The stresses made by these indentations crack the chrome, which then spread and lifted from that point around to the smooth polished front. The stippled finish on the backsides holds the plating fast so this is why it spreads to the front from the broken edge. Then riding with them for months like that only let the vibrations further the lifted chrome. Here, you can see it all clear as day for yourselves. It also now tells me why he waited a month to get the warranteed part back to me, even though I asked in e-mails and phone messages which went totally ignored.

The first mounting point

And the other mounting point (note the nicks in the metal on the second point. Those do not leave my shop like that, so who knows what he did to it there too)
