it is not out of the question he could have transmission/clutch issues with OUT it being his fault or the oil he is using... I have a 2011 and my trany in (N) is noisey as hell... way worse than my 08. the dealer said it is a known issues with something called the torque compensator/ springs. I even from time to time get grinding in my gears when i downshift (did NOT have this with my 08) im using the same oil and way of riding on both bikes.. so what does that mean? something is wrong with my 11, not enough for me to warranty it as nothing is "broken" yet.... But if i want to the dealer will take care of it over the winter.. more than a few times i have read on vic forums where a trany has completely failed.. i know we are talking about the clutch, this is also the SAME clutch they put in their smallest bike (8ball) smallest not in engine size but in over all weight. and i believe that is also a single seater as well.. so im not shocked from time to time to read of a clutch issues. you cant assume everything is made equal.. if this was true i wouldnt of needed to file a warranty claim 45 mins after buying my 2011 vision..

While my '11 doesn't make any noise in N, it does have that annoying downshift "shudder" when you feather the clutch out. Doesn't do it if you match rpms and quickly engage on the downshift.

If it wasn't storming, that's what I'd be doing.
