Ok...long story short...

Bought and had installed the CB unit along with the headset (from Vic) into my new helmet. I key it up and all works great. Or so I think.
I pull up next to my harley buddy and I key my CB and "hey, lets just roll". He keys his back and I get a barely audible reply from him. The volume is so low that I can't hear him AT ALL when riding. So much so that I removed the mic boom and wait until we stop to talk about where we want to end up. He explained that all the other bikes and trucks he has talked with have NOT had a problem with hearing his audio. So, this leaves the issue on my end.

I can hear the stereo VERY well through the helmet so I know the sound isn't the issue at the speaker. This again leaves this on my end at the CB unit.

Question(s):
1. Is there a volume control for the CB itself?
2. I also get an alternator whine when riding if the squelch is low (around 5 or less). Enough to break the squelch and give me the noise. I know...simple grounding issue...or is it?
3. Anyone else experience the above?

There is a CB Volume control. Toggle through your choices using the vertical button on the lower right side of the console. You will find CB volume, if that is not the problem, you need the unit replaced. I had the same problem and they finally just replaced the entire CB unit.

Thank you for the heads up! I did look for that and didn't find a volume under that control. I am assuming you mean the 'mode' button which allows you to adjust the bass, treble...etc.

I hope to find it!

Thanks again!

I think it will only come up when the CB is on. COM on the display.

I've got the same problem. Had the latest update a few weeks ago, hoping to fix the low volume issue...still there. Just haven't gone back to the dealer yet. It is loud enough to hear when you are standing still, but when riding, it's really hard to hear. I hope that they can replace it needed. My buddy and I use it all the time when riding on long trips.

Mode button is correct, and as pointed out CB must be on as directed. When you toggle through you will eventually see CB volume.

One of the guys on another forum was nice enough to send me the PDF of the instruction manual. I tried to post and had issues. I will try again. However, if you don't see it, PM me and I will be happy to send it along to a PM email address.

Fact is, the instructions have a LOT more detail about them regarding passenger sound as well. So, again, if you need it, PM me.

ElroyJ,

Man I am having the same problem. I don't know what to do. I hope you have had some success in resolving this problem. I ride with a club, and we use CBs extensively. Everyone I speak to on the CB can hear me loudly and clearly, but I can hardly make out what they are saying, and once we are under way, I can't hear anything over the engines.

I would appreciate any info you could provide.

Thanks,

Woo

FWIW, I discovered that the factory OEM Xenon HID also generates CB RX noise.  If you turn off the Xenon HID, you may be able to put your squelch down a little lower which will increase your reception range.  I am able to run mine with the squelch set @ 3, sometimes @ 2.

Also, make sure your CB and RADIO flashes are the latest.  The earlier CB flashes had low input volume problems.

Sincerely,

Tim

Maybe this has been covered somewhere else and I just can't find it.

My problem is not low volume it just works about 5% of the time!! When it does work everyone can hear me perfect and I can hear loud and clear. But the other 95% of the time I get a loud strange noise when someone is transmitting(not white noise like the squelch is too low). When I transmit I can hear myself in my helmet but I'm not getting out.. I can't leave the unit on because when this noise happens I can't stop it... ie; I can't squelch it out or turn the darn thing off... And if I hit a good bump it will make the noise.. I'm not a computer expert but that doesn't sound like a software problem..

The most recent cb down load came out about two weeks ago. Dealer did it. didn't fix anything.
When I call the dealer to let them know it is still not working they tell me they will send a message to Polaris......

Anybody had a problem like this and what was the fix?????

My CB did not work right till they dealer upgraded (Flsashed) the code on my CB and radio. I was running 4.12 bu now I am running 5.12

5.13 is out.

I had the 6 second transmit time out issue as well.
