In the May 2013 Cycle World there is a comparison of the new Honda F6B ( stripped GoldWing ) bagger and the 2013 HD SE RoadGlide. I was really surprised that the RG made 92.7 HP on the CW dyno. CW is never generous and usually spot on with HP measurements. The Honda made 103 .6 HP.

I was thinking that sure is alot of power for the RG, the last standard RG with a a 103" engine made about 75 HP. Yeah then it came to me, The SE has uprated cams, exhaust, fuel controller, aircleaner and 7 more cubic inches all for only $34,000.00 : About $13,000.00 more than the standard model !!!!!!

A stock VV makes about 85 RWHP, but when you add a VM-1 cam, airfilter, fuel controller and pipes you get somewhere between 111 and 117 RWHP for less than $2000.00. We are still WAY ahead in this game......

Was a good article...........

Yes we are! I couldn't imagine anything else, although the F6B is pretty sharp!

My Buddy has a Road Glide Ultra and he has the 103 with cams, filter, tune, gutted cat, etc and my Vision with performance filter, drilled stock exhaust and S1 tune still beats him. Pisses him off he spent $2500 to almost keep up with a near stock Victory lol. All is well though HD does make a good bike he has over 20000 miles on his 2011 and it's been virtually problem free. I wish Victory's customer service and warranty was as good as HD though that would really be awesome!

My brother also has an Ultra with cams, exhaust, controller and Harleys tune, still can't keep up with me. +1 on the service though, Victory could learn from Harley in that area.

If they could trim a couple of inches off the seat height, I would have no doubt that the F6B would far outperform the HD, but I have tried to ride a wing and can say that tiptoes on a flat road and no contact at a light because of road wear is no way to ride. I presently own an unaltered Road Glide Ultra and can comfortably reach the ground. That extra 2 inches of seat height did me in at 5'10" tall.

Nothing wrong with a RG, I had one for ten years and put 57,000 miles on it. What I was mainly commenting about was that they wrangled that much HP out of the 110 TC engine and still give a warranty. BUT, I Misquoted CycleWorld: The Horse Power was actually 91.27 not 92.7 sorry fellas...........I was correct on the F6B 103.66........

Went to a Honda dealer in Michigan today and sat on the new F6B Honda..Even with the new seat at 28.5 inches it is still too high for my short inseam...I really liked the overall look of the bike except for the all blacked out finish..I prefer chrome in spots...Owner of dealership told me with the new manual suspension at rear you can lower bike down about 2 inches...I used to ride a Valkyrie before my Victory's and really loved the smooth power delivery and overall handling...BUT....Nothing compares, as yet, to my Silver/Black Vision and I have no plans to change anytime soon...The HD are just to damn much money for what you get, especially the CVO models.....

From what I have read the F6B Goldwing does have a seat that is cut down nearly 2 inches in height and nose width when compared to a stock Goldwing seat. The only problem I see with that is the riders knees were already bent in a near sport bike like posture with the stock seat, with the F6B's cut down seat I would imagine that the bent knee position would be even worse.

It was the knee position that ultimately caused me to trade my wing for the Vision although I did love how I could run the twisties on the wing, after 5 full seasons of riding the Vision I've finally got my confidence level up to attack the curves like I used to on the wing but there is still more work hustling the Vision around, primarily because you can't use you feet as much to shift your weight around.

I sat on both the F6B and Goldwing yesterday...I am 5'9" with barely a 29"inseam, short guy, and I did not notice much difference in the seat height between the two bikes...I cannot flat foot on either which bothers me and is one of the reasons I ride a Vision...No way is there 2 inches difference in the two seats....Stock Goldwing is listed at 29.1" and F6B is 28.5"...There is a little difference in the front area design of the F6B but not enough to make it more comfortable for me....As I said above although, it is a really nice bike and I am sure it will do well in the market...Dealer I went to got 5 bikes in last week and has sold 4 of them already.....

Just wondering if you can help new VV owner out.
Where can I get a little information on some of the things you did for a little more power?
Thanks!

What are you looking for when you say a little more power? An increase of 30 reliable horsepower is easily available without going into the motor (other than the valve covers) or touching the exhaust. All you need are a Lloydz or Ness top filter, a fuel controller, and a set of Lloydz cams. You'll get power equal to or better than a Goldwing and the fuel economy stays as good as or better than stock.

Look here http://www.lloydz.com/ here http://www.thevicshop.com/, or contact KevinX on this forum or at Polaris Of Gainesville, FL.

The claim of 103.6 HP for the GW from the dyno test conducted by CW seems questionable. Every other source I found where dyno tests were conducted came in the low 90's for the GW. I have a buddy that just purchased a 2013 GW that had it dynoed and it came in at 92.7 HP and 101 lb/ft torque. The test was conducted at a location that is about 980 ft elevation, on a day with low humidity around 70 degrees fahrenheit.

I, on the other hand, have a 2013 CVO Electraglide dynoed the same day and it came in at 90 HP, 107 ft/lb torque.

They are both great bikes - it all comes down to personal preference.

Peace All.....be safe

Well I had the chance to ride the Honda F6B today for a few miles and I personally loved the thing except for the lousy windshield which is totally useless..I felt it handled great and was really fast and smooth and seemed comfortable for the few miles I rode..I had a Valkyrie for 6 years before my latest bike, the Vision, and it was a great ride..I probably should not have ridden the thing cause now I am considering a deal..I absolutely have no reason to trade my Vision as it is a wonderful bike, a little heavy for me at times, but I became " re-addicted.." to the power and smoothness of the F6B. Seems to fit me fine at 5'9" (high soles on boots) and was very easy to maneuver at parking lot speeds...JMHO...We'll see what the future brings...Am still thinking of installing VM1 cams, Lloydz filter, ATW, and VMC111 fuel controller and keeping the Vision...Don't ride 2-up anymore and very seldom go on long rides, so thinking the F6B would work better for me.....

No cruise control would be a deal breaker for me. My best friend bought one...he likes it, but changed out the windshield. He also said that the paint is super-soft. According to him, no clearcoat and it scratches if you look at it wrong... Lots of complaints about paint over on HondaF6B.com

I'm coming off a Valkyrie and I considered the F6B, but when I found out it didn't have cruise (and no way to add it), I lost interest quickly. Lovin' the Vision, but it definitely needed VM1 cams, filter, VFC-3 and timing wheel. Performance similar to my Valkyrie now...

Rylan from Vic Shop fixed it up for me. VERY satisfied!
