I used a regular u bolted Ram mount. Bought a 3/4" pipe ubolt at home depot and it fit in the ram mount and around the Vision's bars , perfectly.

I positioned the Ram self leveling cup holder on the back part of the bars to the right of the audio control pod. Close by,no view blocking,no clearance issues. Worked flawlessly on our 700 nile 3 day V2V run.

They say the ball is to mount in the threads for a rear view mirror but there is no such hole/threads for a bolt on the Vision. The place they show the bolt mounting is the light switch to select low or high beam. I don't see where this could mount on the Vision like they say it will unless it replaces the bolt for the clutch hand lever and I don't think that would work.

Thanks for the link and info Bigwill5150! I'm interested in the Vision-specific mount for either XM radio or a cupholder.

I just installed the RAM Cup holder on Monday. Same style and mounting location that GAgirlTrixie used in her picture. Looks good and works great. Now I can eliminate some of those drink stops between fuel stops and just drink while on the move. It also means that I can pick up a Tim Hortons coffee on the way to work in the morning as well. Should be interesting to see the reaction the first time I go through the drive-thru.

Incidentally, I also installed the same GPS/Mount that GAgirlTrixie is using. Could this be a case of great minds think alike????

Bigwill,

That GPS mount looks great, however, that's where my high/low beam switch is located. I don't see anywhere for a threaded hole.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Mike

Mike, I gave RAM a call and they acknowledged that the animation of where the ball mount goes is wrong. On the Victory Jackpot there are mirror mounting locations on the clutch and front brake reservoirs, the people at RAM assumed that since the reservoirs on the Vision and Jackpot are of the same basic design that on the Vision there were the unused mirror mounting holes where they could put a RAM ball. They didn't come up with anything else, but I will be mounting my cupholder in the same fashion as GAgirlTrixie.

GOOD CATCH! Sorry for the WRONG info!!! I emailed them and they didn't respond, so I guess that means that they are NOT going to be offering this for the Vision like they stated on their website. You all saved me a lot of time and frusteration here. I'm stuck offshore in the Gulf of Mexico right now, so I didn't have the oppertunity to take a look at the supposed mounting location on my bike. I hope no one acted on a whim and bought the thing! I don't have the option of editing the original post I made with the link. As a company, I still like Ram Mount though. Their website shows a lifetime manufacturing warranty on their products. I'll probably get the universal ball mount like Trixie's too.

**UPDATE**
Ram emailed me back and told me that the M10 bolt I was looking at was correct and he (that particular rep) believed it to be a great fit for my Vision. I emailed them back and told them that they had more research to do because that mounting location does not exist on the Vision. Anyway, thanks to GATrixiegirl for the great info. I've ordered a couple of the 9mm bolt, ball mounts for each side of the under-dash; another type to experiment with, a cup holder and one of the aquaboxes for my cell phone. It's gonna be like Christmas for me when I get back next week!
Thanks again,
-Will

I have spoken to the Director of Marketing for RAM - Aaron Hersey and between his pictures and mine we were able to determine that their website was indeed wrong and he is changing it right away. He found out what the deal was - Victory will be offering this combination, RAM 10mm ball, cup holder and special billet mount as an accessory, probably for 2009. Here's a picture of what it will look like and why there was so much confusion.

In the meantime, I'm installing mine ala GAgirlTrixie...

Neat looking cup holder. But, It appears to me that it blocks your line of sight to the dash indicators, like the oil pressure light and everything else. Does it just look that way in the picture or am I seeing right?

I used a Bass Pro Shop fold up cup holder, found in their "marine" dept, which I first saw on this forum by another poster. I threaded two zip ties between the handlebar and the clutch reservoir, then slightly elongated the outside mounting holes on the cupholder so the zip ties would fit through. Fed the zip ties through the holes, connected the ends, pulled hard, cut off the excess, then placed just the tiniest dab of Gorilla glue out of sight at the edge of the zip tie, onto the handlebar to keep movement minimized. Mounted a second one on the right side of the rear pod, near the front of the side, so m'lady can also have liquid refreshment while underway. Whole thing cost about $12 (for 2 cup holders), and took less than 30 minutes to install. I'll remove both after our long trip, as we don't need these on a daily basis, just while on multiple consecutive 500 mile blasts to get us from CO to WA.

Thanks again for the mounting info Trixie! I got my mounts on the underside of my dash last night. The underside of the dash is truely much more stable than I would have thought (the top cover is very flimsey). Now I have the cup holder on either side and an accessory (aqua box or camera) on the other. BTW, the long mount arm is in the way unless you are planning on using it while you are sitting parked (due to handlebar swing). It makes my Vision the most expensive tripod I've bought for photography so far!
Thanks again,
-Will
