Let's get a accurate picture of who has hardbag cover alignment issues.

I encourage ALL to vote, not just those with problems.

Remember this is strictly a POLL about hardbag cover alignment. No comments/posts please.

I replied significant misalighnment, left side, but I have no paint issues that I am aware of.

I push both thumbs on each side of the locking mechanism and pull on the passenger hand rest with my fingers
to close the left. The right side only needs one thumb pushed directly over the locking mechanism. I do not,
nor never have slammed the sidecases to close them.

I have contacted my dealer on this matter. They in return contacted Polars. Anyone having trouble with their allignment can call G-Force Powersports at 303-238-4303. They were given a five page Tech tip on how to realign the bags from the hinges. Just ask for the service department and maybe they can fax the tip to you.

Is it possible to have your dealer fax or email you this 5-page document? It seems it would be easy to fix myself. My left bag is slightly misalighted but no paint issues. If you could get the doc and then post it here, that would be awesome.

It seems that the common missalignment is on the left bag. Mine was out about 3/8" but there was no issue closeing the bag. I had my dealer correct this as baest they coud. I stopped at another dealer who had 2 Visions on the showroom floor and both of them had left bags out about 1/4" to 3/8" compared to the right lid.

It would be great if we could get that here. If you PM me, I could give you my fax # and PDF to this post.

Took mine in for dealer alignment, with the seat off everything looks ok, studied the setup & it looks like the seat is the culpert. Eg: the seat is off to the right according to the bags, handle bars & trunk. The seat is also pushing up on the "V" panel in front of the seat causing it to not fit right, when feet on hiway pegs & passing a truck there was enough wind to cause said panel to hit me in the face. Caught it before it disappered via the rear horizon, thankfullly. The seat can't be adjusted to the rear or left at all. At the dealers we tried 3 different seats & "V" panels, none came close. Took pictures & sent them to Poo, will see what they say.

My left bag is off about a quarter to three eights of an inch compared to the right bag, though I haven't noticed any paint rub. My right bag though better aligned does not open when I push the button, I have to pull on it to get it open. And I have the paint dimple issues on both bags as well milky spots on the tank which I will add to that post.

Cheers!

After doing the $3.52 alignment, they are perfect.

Regarding the alignment of the hard bags: The left bag is significantly out of aline but closes fine. Took it into the dealer last week and they did absolutely nothing to it but said they tried. The right back it out of line also but not as bad but it opens only by tugging on it.

I clicked on choice one NOW. When I picked up the Vision it was an entirely different matter. The dealer mechanics had no idea how to fix it so me and my box of washers spent 15 minutes and sorted things out.

For folks with tours that MIGHT decide removal of the trunk would be nice..... You might want to remove the trunk NOW and put some tape backed foam between your trunk and what Victory calls the "rear fender trim panel." This panel runs from the top of your saddlebags down the center (license plate mounts in it) and around both sides of the rear light. The trunk WILL rub the paint off of the uppermost corners on both sides.

I noticed that someone actually said there was a tech tip out. I am a tech for Polaris and have only had to re-align one set of hinges so far. it is not that difficult, but it is like doing body work on a car or trying to frame a new door into a house. There is a little bit of magic and luck in getting it right if you are not sure what to loosen and re-adjust. Your dealer should be able to take about an hour and adjust it. You can take a little time yourself and go through and loosen most all of the screws for the hinges and the screws that fasten the outer body work to the inner cover and take a few minutes to shift and re-tighten the fasteners to get it right. Unless the outer body work is severly misshaped, you should not have much trouble

I gave up on my dealer and fixed it myself. You can read how to do it here: http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1295&pos...

dwhite, not to pick on you bud because you might work at the greatest Vic dealer in the world, but you aren't needing to adjust them because your owners are, lol. The alignment on just about everything is terrible from the factory. I have literally had my vision stripped of body panels and doors and you need to shim with washers to get them right. Simple process? Yep if you have a little mechanical ability it doesn't take long at all.
Do you own a Vision or just work on them?
