Found a new 2011 Vision sitting in a dealer and they are asking $17.5k after rebate. It's less than I paid for my '09 but $20k buys a 2014 model, of course no rebate offered. To me that seems a little steep for a bike that will be four years old in 6 mos when the '15's hit the floor. Am I thinking right here??

Yes, I think the stealer could come down on that. KBB retail price for a 2011 Vision Tour ABS is $15,860

Are you going to keep it until all the depreciation has been used up, or are you going to trade it in a couple of years? If you're going to keep it and ride it for several years, money saved is money saved. If you're going to be trading in a couple of years, depreciation becomes a concern. Of course that $20K 2014 model takes a big hit in the first couple of years of ownership too. It will quickly lose the $2500 value difference.

Kind of a tossup in my mind, as far as depreciation $$ goes. They are both going to depreciate, but the 2011 will depreciate at a slower pace than the 2014. Five years from now, they will be judged on miles and condition, not year model. That's how the Goldwing market works. A 2001 Goldwing in good condition is worth just about as much as a 2006 Goldwing in the same condition and miles. I expect the used Vision market will follow the same path.

The KBB retail price for a 2011 is for a USED bike with miles and NO warranty. What's the zero miles and warranty worth to you? Will the dealer negotiate a bit on price, or added accessories for the deal? Is the zero miles and factory warranty worth the $1640 premium over a USED bike?

KBB lists the retail price for a 1 year old Vision, a 2013, at $17,180 which is a $2820 hit if you had paid $20,000. The 2014 is going to do the same thing, or worse.

For comparison, KBB lists your 2009 at $13,600 and my 2008 at $12,930. In the real world, the mileage and general condition could make them pretty much equal value. At this point, depreciation has equaled out, and condition and miles are more important.

If he goes to resell it he will find it is a 2011 with low mileage not a year or two old bike. The stealer needs to recognize that too.

If you go to www.cycletrader.com, you can find some 2013 Visions for about $17k. So for a 2011, it should be closer to $15k. It's just losing money sitting at the dealership anyways.

I just bought my 14 Vision (MSRP 21,599) for 18,500. Dealer agreed to $19,500 + $1000 Demo Ride cash, also got $500 free Victory gear. So 17.5 for an 11 is indeed high IMO.

I once had tire trouble that required a new tire and the only shop around for hundreds of miles that was open was a Harley shop in Vernal Utah. They were good to me, got me right in, and even had a tire in stock to fit my bike, but the (H)undred (D)ollar an hour shop rate shocked me a bit. Given my situation, a LONG way from home and a bike with an unusable tire (which I had just installed before the trip--and only had about 1000 miles on it when it was ruined) I didn't mind paying it. The Harley shop saved my trip and we only lost one day.

The price is too high. I paid $17.5K for my 2011 in Sept of 2011 right after the 2012 models hit the floor. So the same price 3 years later is too high in my book. If you do a google search I'm sure you can find a much better deal. You may have to travel further (I live in VA and bought mine in PA), but the bike is made for traveling anyway.

Paid 15 (after the veteran discount) for my brand new 2013 VVT this past fall. I had to travel 900 miles round trip, but worth it.
