Hello all. I posted a few weeks ago, when I ordered my Vision. Today, I finally picked her up. I spent a significant time selecting the right bike with the right mods for me. It was between the Triumph Rocket 3 Touring and the Vision. Well, as you may have guessed, a back to back ride had the Vision win hands down.

Living in Las Vegas, I went to the Arlen Ness store here and found the bike. A 2008 Cherry Red Vision Tour Premium. I added the Ness Big Honkers, Twin Sucker intake, Heat Wrapped Exhaust, the Power Commander with the custom Ness mapping, and Highway Pegs.

Today, I was able to pick up the bike. It was 110 in Vegas and the ride home was HOT, but I couldn't care less. The bike has a good bark to the exhaust, but is not too loud (very important to me). Of course it's new, so I haven't even begn to tap the power.

One great side note: I pulled out of the dealer with a huge smile on my face. About 1 mile down the road (at most 4 minutes into my first Vision ride), a guy in a pick up, pulled up next to me in traffic and gave me a huge thumbs up. He rolled down the window and said "that is the most beautiful motorcycle I've ever seen". During the red light, he asked about 20 questions and said how in awe he was of the bike. What a great first experience!!

Anyway, my hat is off to all the folks at the Ness dealership. They took their time to show me EVERYTHING on the bike and quite frankly gave me great pricing on everything. If you have the chance to deal with them, I strongly recommend them.

I'm proud to be an active member in this online community here. I hope to add to the content and discussions.

Again, I'm thrilled to be a Vision-Rider!

Let us know how the PowerCommander works out (e.g. decel popping, stalling, rough running, etc.).  Also, did Ness say anything about adding stage 2 CAMs ???

 Congrats on your purchase.

Also, tell us how the wrapped pipes work and if they reduce any of the engine heat.

Also, also, did they install torque cones to compensate for the Big Honkers?

Tim

SrBiff,

Have a great time with your new machine!

There should be a sticker that states the following over the key switch when you go to drive off with your new Victory Vision.

Warning: If you do not like meeting total strangers, answering questions about Victory (or parent company, Polaris, stock symbol PII), answering questions on the Vision and it features, demonstrating the motorized windshield, describing or physically demonstrating the tip over points, pointing out the cruise control switches, heated seats and grips, opening the mp3/iPod player area, the gas cap door, and all luggage compartments, providing the price you paid for the Vision, the location of the nearest honest Victory dealer, the free demonstration rides and the bikes top speed, do not buy the Vision.

Please know the engine displacement in cc and ci, gas mileage city and highway do not forget to mention that it is an American designed and manufactured motorcycle.

If purchased: You must also be kind to those who walk around your Vision when you are eating or shopping. When you are asked silly things about the Vision such as "When did you steal George Jetson's bike" or "I saw this in the Batman movie", be thoughtful in your reply since, they might really want a Vision but have to many HD tattoos to turn back now, really do not want a Vision but that is OK and everyone should ride a motorcycle that they identify with, third be embarrassed that they paid more for their HD Ultra Electra Glide but do not want to admit it or finally; they go home, do some research and they might just buy one for themselves.

Welcome to the "Great American Motorcycle Experience"

I've had mine since early June, with each day I ride it, I enjoy it more. After 9600 miles I am just now beginning to appreciate how well she handles, getting brave enough to lay her nearly on the tipovers in the corners. Get used to those "Thumbs Up's" and comments, and those 20 minute fuel up's, it's all part of the experience that only comes with Vision ownership.

Once again Welcome Aboard.

As has been said, Welcome To The Great American Motorcycle Experience. Here's an example of what you are in for, besides riding a truly great machine. Yesterday morning, I rode down to Eureka Springs Arkansas with two of my GL1800 riding buddies. One of them wanted some more farkles for his bike, so we went to CycleGadgets http://www.cyclegadgets.com to watch him spend some money. BTW, I talked to the owner about the possiblity of getting his suppliers to produce integrated audio/communications solutions for the Vision like they have done for the Goldwing. He said they are already looking at it. I also suggested that he produce a kit to convert the trunk running lights to running/turn/stop lights with the option of a brake light modulator. He was receptive to the idea. Time will tell. Anyway, after finishing there, we went on into town and discovered that they were having a classic car show and rally. We parked, and before we could get off our bikes, I had people coming over asking all kinds of questions about my Vision. After leaving our bikes and walking around looking at all the really nice restored and customized cars, one of my buddies came over to me and said "You need to get back over to your bike. Everybody thinks it's in the show". A constant stream of people were walking right past all the other bikes parked there and circling around my Vision. This is in a town that is overrun with bikes of every type, including lots of custom choppers and tricked out Goldwings. Be prepared for lots of attention and to answer lots of questions. Practice your smile and displaying lots of patience. You are now an official ambassador for Victory.

Thanks all for the welcome.

TimS: Yes, it has the torque cones. I believe the Ness dealer is now calling the entire package the "Hotrod Kit". The exhaust wrap is still burning in, but as of now, the exhaust is still HOT. It's my first V-twin, so I'll get used to it. The dealer told me it really won't improve the heat for the rider. However, they did mention some fairing customizations they're testing. No discussion on the cams, and I wouldn't have done that anyway (need to learn to tame the bike as it is for now).

Radioteacher: I love the idea of the "warning sticker". We should print them just for fun.

RotnRat and rdbudd: I love the idea of being an ambassador! Also, rdbudd: did you win the car show???

Welcome!
I certainly believe you made the right choice. I hope you'll find it as comfortable and reliable as I have mine 14000 miles.

Absolutely!! I got to ride 320 miles to a car show, in the beautiful Ozark Mountains on a nice Fall day, visiting with two of my friends the entire time both on and off the bikes.

rdbudd: That sounds like a winner!!

One comment thus far: This is my first Big V-Twin. As you all know, this beast throws a lot of heat. When it's under 90 degrees out, it's fine. Over that, WOW is it hot. I see folks have said the lower wind deflectors work well. Do you think I should give it a shot?

Also of note: my bike has heat wrapped exhaust. i don't really notice any difference in heat between the right and left sides. Perhaps that means the wrap is making a difference.

Read this thread regarding air flow on the right side of the cylinder head.

http://www.vision-riders.com/bb/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1569&posts=23&mid=16892&highlight=swoosh&highlightmode=1&action=search#M16892

I rode to WrightWood on Sunday.  On the way back it got to 108 degrees.  Having a little extra air flow would be nice.

Welcome aboard. If you ever get into Texas gives us a ring because we have a pretty nice group of Vision owners starting to pile up!
