Noticed my rear tire is cupping really badly. The last tire just had a wide raised flat strip going down the middle. This one is cupping, no wide strip in the middle, alternating pattern of dirt and does the wave when running your hand over it. Most car tires would point to a problem with wheel balance. I may have to have the dealer re-balance it. It only has 7000 miles on it. Hoping to get a few more. Front tire is looking good.

Thanks to ChandlerwiththehottiesTom he puts new pics up and we thank him. But, we may have to question on one of the Pics his definition of Hottie!!!!!

Po, I'll reply to two things I know nothing about but will pretend. 1st, on the E3 I've always seen some type of funny wear pattern but they have always given me great mileage. On my GL1200, ran bias E3's and they cupped, and had funny patterns and I got 12 to 13k on the rear and I think once 15k. On the front, around 25k. All in all I see the same with the Radials on the Vision. I can't explain it, but getting that kind of mileage I'm not going to weary about it. As for the other topic, all I can say is Bikes and Beautiful Ladies always seem to be the staple of freedom loving men. I gotz mine so I don't spend as much time in TC's gallery as you perhaps would. I'm a little concerned about DJ now though.

Po, assuming you are talking rear tire? Bump your tire pessure up to 40 and have the dealer check the shock bushings. Not sure exactly what you are describing but my 1st rear tire scalloped really bad. If you look at the tire from the side the tire appears to have a lower wave spot scooped out behind each tread line. Once the dealer replaced the shock bushings the tire scalloping flattened out, tada went away, but it didn't result in my having to replace the rear at 10k miles. The front tire got the usual ridge in the center with a slight wave of cupping until I hit around 9k then it to flattened back out. Still have a slight raised center but nothing like before. According to Dunlop this is normal on the front. Hope this helps......... T

every bike i have ever owned cupping was caused by low air pressure. I run 40 front and rear. i usually run 4psi higher than the owner manual said. in the past with other bikes when i followed the owners manual it resulted in me buy tires sooner than needed. Cupping is a air pressure issue.. once they are cupped you are done, they need replaced.

Dang it! I'm almost positive air pressure is fine, but I'll check it anyway.

Teach, it is the rear tire I'm yapping about. That is exactly what it is doing. Will give the info a look over and see what I find.

VaRyder- I don't a whole lot of time over there, Just trying to help a brother keep is REP up. Cause that's just the way CT rolls.

Po, if its any help the techs found the excessive play while on the jack. They placed a socket on the axle bolt and lifted while watching the shock bushings. I'm not sure exactly how much play they are suppose to have (most have some) but they could really move it around.

varyder sometimes me wonders if ye be IRISH. It is just like on your car if the tire rides a little long on the front and out of balance it will start to wear a little uneven on the outer edges. The first rear tire made it to 7000 miles and was smooth with the little raised rib in the middle.
