Dale, Indiana | This weekend the wife and I, plus by brother and his wife went on a nice weekend ride around central Indiana (mainly Brown County area). Since it's for sure the last nice weekend before winter, hundreds of other riders were everywhere.
Since I am not a good logger of miles I'll just say we covered all we needed. Plus, the few pictures we took are still on the card.
Bike rode well. My stock non-modified pipes did not pop. My Victory radio and CB/intercom that hasn't got any aftermarket super-duper cool name parts on it worked great. All the lights worked great and my Victory recommended headlights did not burn out as those cool-dude lights seem to do. Plus, since I washed and waxed the bike before we left, all the Victory stock chrome that is available just gleamed!
My stock tires hugged the road roaring down hwy 135 in Brown County, Indiana. Our stay at Story Inn in Story, Indiana was great and our hunt for treason in Nashville, Indiana was fun since we had the usual ‘that's a cool bike' crowd show up at every stop.
Also it was a wee chilly this morning. Therefore I put hot chocolate in my Victory brand travelers coffee mug that fits great in my Victory cup holder that only took me 5 minutes to fix a manufacturing bonehead oversight.
Since I didn't take my bike apart and put it back together again none of my parts came lose or fell off. Only when the outside air temp reached a whopping 75 degrees did we noticed the big almost 100HP V-twin radiate any heat when we were in the crazy heavy traffic in Nashville and Bloomington.
Seat warmers worked great after I learned 1 month ago that somehow the plug under the seat unplugged. Only took about 10 minutes to find that problem then since I didn't make any angry phone calls or get on the Internet and have a hissy fit in front of the world about Victory's lack listening to me.
Since the bike and I are as one I had no problems finding any of switches. I can close my eyes and use any switch on the bike. However, moving some of them to a location that's not even on my bike would be better.
All in all it was great weekend. Bike performed as it was designed really nicely. Talked to more then a hundred other riders who all seem to have minor issues with their bikes no matter the brand name. Harley guys were cool, however most were almost broke since their bikes and parts cost so much more then your other brand names because they have to support a large network of pricey dealers.
I did feel sorry for the guy on an Indian bike who was being screwed over because Indian just doesn't have that many dealers in this country as is required for all other bikes brands but Victory.
I do have to say my wife looked right spiffy in her Victory jacket and her tight blue jeans and no visible brand name chaps.

Pitt Meadows, BC Canada | Tim, other than the Indiana roads, your story sounds just like every weekend I have had out on my very near perfect Vison since April. Not one problem that even irritated in a little way. Yes, the radio volume changed the station, but I quickly learned that I like the volume switch on the tank better. Big deal. And that is it. Period.
Love my wife. Love my bike. Couldn't be better than that.... |

And design work , my bike still remains vulnerable to bug strikes. I have to constantly
clean them off. You'd think that they could build a bike that would go between the bugs!

- lower your windshield, grin, and feast on the free protein
- purchase some 'bugslide' - I hear good things about that product
- move to Pacific Northwest (buy good raingear)
Or, you could just consider the problem as 'not a problem' - and just part of the immense enjoyment of riding a Vision. |
