I am a new Vision owner and want to do something different with the passenger grab handles - purchased a demo Tour Premium in SS Grey. Bike is great, was a 2008 with 8 whole miles plus has billet wheels and chrome forks and almost all brushed alum replaced with chrome. Price was great too, but has a few dings and nicks in both grab handles.

Since it seems these are plastic or some composite, I am not sure what the best option is to repair the finish. Need to fix the imperfections which you can feel and correct the color. With very little brushed alum panels left on bike the alum color is sort of out of place now too.

I see several folks have painted their handles. Will paint hold up? Seems like my wife hits them everytime she gets on or off anyway.

Looks like you have to take the whole back end off the bike to remove them. Have a service manual but still looks like quite a project.

Looking for some good ideas. Thanks!

So Cal
Ness sell panels to eliminate them. Im sure a good bodyshop can repair/paint them any way you want. Wife likes the handles so they stay.

I paintep mine black. They seem to be holding up. Mine have gotten kicked a few times from people getting on and off. The scuffs buffed right out. And yes, is was a major pain getting them off.

I saw a Vision owner at our dealership who had them chromed. Didnt get to talk with him but they looked sharp. Sounds like they are
a bear to remove/install, better want to change them badly if you have to disassemble that much of the bike.

I got some clear 3M plastic to cover the handles. They get kicked alot by passengers. Cheaper than painting

I saw one Vision with leather (or could be faux leather) around the passenger handle. It looked like the stuff you buy to wrap bicycle handle bars.

Unfortunately being plastic, there is little you can do with respect to finish other than paint. I agree that a good body shop can take care of the dings and paint them, or you could cover them as others have done. If they were metal, you could have them powdercoated, which would make them much more durable, but alas, I have not seen any options in metal as of yet.

I wish someone would make a good aftermarket handle in metal though (actually I wish the factory would do it, but we all know it will likely snow in Death Valley before that happens). Probably like most, mine are showing the signs of wear as well (I usually ride 2 up, so my handles and bags get a bit beat up). But if you keep them buffed out, you should be able to keep them looking good, at least for a while.
