my dealer installs the bigshots every day and never has a problem with them. i read on here where the VFCIII is programmed for the vision? i told me dealer about this and he laughed and said they are all made by Dobeck performance? (dont know if this is true or not) i think it might depend on what mods you plan on doing.. what i mean is. are you just adding pipes and new air filter. cause if so i would guess to say it wouldnt matter.. btw powercommander has a NEW unit for the vision.. the power commander V. they also have a feature called the auto tuner which will tune the bike for you no matter what mods you do to your bike!

i dont have either one yet, i know i can find some pretty smoken deals on the big shots. NO deals on the vfcIII

i seen in your link bill here Lloyd said no two visions are mapped the same and that one setting for me might not be the same setting for you.. thats a nice thing about that auto tuner from powercommander! dead on settings at all times in all temps and with all mods. a little more. but when you factor in the price of a dyno tuner the gap is a little closer.

Yes they are both made by Dobek, but there are HUGE differences in the underlying software. The boxs's are programed differently for things like idle fuel, decell corection, point sensativity, fuel point change, etc. I personally have 3 different maps for the VFC3[and a programer] on my laptop that Lloyd changed do to a discovery down the road. Like the initial units being a little light on fuel for the top end when cams were installed. Your dealers laugh hid his ignorance pretty well. Lloyd has countless hours developing his programing on a dyno; while the Ness box has a off the shelf Dobek generic program

kev, i wanted to ask your opinion on something. why it is that on the TFI and the VFC they want you to unhook the o2 sensors but my dealer said that with the BigShots you leave the o2 sensors as they were? whats the big deal/difference.?

Because your dealer does not read the instructions?? With the o2 unpluged, or bypassed with a plug in from the controller the ECM is at a fixed voltage. This allows the controller to work with a simplified system. With the o2 hooked up the ECM sends a signal to the injector, the controller modifies it, the o2 sees it, the ECM then sends a leaner pulse width to the injector, the controller modifies it, on, and on until the system goes out of bounds. At that point your in the same position as if you had the o2 unplugged. The problem here is the time it takes to go through all thatr crap. These things operate in milliseconds, and that wasted time in corection equals power, and drivability flaws.

Now all that said. I have actually used this confusion to my benafit on an 08 Jackpot with wide open pipes to limit popping. On a dyno doing this cost 4HP, and about the same it torque, but it does pop less, and when I sat pop; I am talking about loud explosions

when you bypass the o2 sensors what exactly are you doing? when i get a vfcIII i dont wanna have alot of down time because i dont have a clue.. and if my dealer is full of $hit as it seems they are. then i dont have much faith in them installing it!

It has been found that bypassing, or simply unplugging the o2 end up with the same results. Some of the VFC3 units had a set of plugs that just went into the main harness where the original o2 plugs were. On 08 bikes the plugs were easy to get to . One under the snap in panel in front of the seat, and one on the left side below the seat under the aluminum wrap around panel
