Perry Hall, MD | Went to work this morning with temp at 24 degrees and ran through several locations with salted ice along the way. No problems and very rewarding to be able to tell the many that asked that I wasn't cold doing it. Now the bike, and boots need a good cleaning.
Then came the news from up north that the new LED traffic lights have an unexpected issue. They don't generate enough heat to melt any snow or ice that may cover them. Not that anyone has talked about going to LED headlamps, but it's likely to follow just like the LED driving lamps to replace the PIAA units.
Surely not that many would be driving while it is actually snowing or with ice building up on the front of the bike, but a few have (a friend threw his HD Ultra to the ground last year doing it). Food for thought when the 20?? model comes out with them installed.
At what temp do you actually get cold on these? I have a heated jacket on the Christmas list, but not sure that I need it. |

| Are you saying that the 2010's have LED's instead if filament?? I didn't know that you could replace the PIAA Lamps with LED's either?? |

Memphis | 40+ is moderate. 25-39 is cool. Below 25 is pretty cold. YMMV - Your Metabolism May Vary. |

Anderson, IN (48mi NE of downtown Indianapolis) | I ride 30 minutes to work everyday in mid 20's temp. Last week it was 22. I do not have heated gear and I am quite comfortable. The aftermarket lower air deflectors made a huge difference. Over my work clothes (consisting of jeans, t-shirt, and button-up shirt) I wear a sweatshirt, First Gear jacket/pant combo, and MSR Cold Pro gloves. I'm sure longer rides would require heated clothing at this temp. |

I'm not saying the 2010s have LED headlamps, but could anticipate exploring going to them somtime in the future. The following current thread is discussing an LED replacement for the PIAA driving lamps.
