I took my bike in to have some work done it. While at the dealership I discussed the fact the my front fairing cracked just in front of the floorboard on the right side. Apparently the bike was dropped on its right side (not by me...ugh) and a crack in the fairing is now clearly visible.

The dealer has been gracious and trying to get Polaris to replace the right side. To no avail. So, the dealer asked me to call Polaris direct and discuss this with them. Hello?! The CSR on the phone basically told me that I was not to be calling direct because I should be dealing directly with the dealer. WTH? Am I not THE customer? Hello?!

In a nutshell, Polaris has denied the corrective action to the fairing because they are calling this a "cosmetic issue". Ok...true...its cosmetic. But damn if this isn't the Flag Ship of Polaris! Hello?!

So, I hang up with the Polaris rep and call the dealer back. He IS trying and is going to contact the regional rep to help correct these issues.

Am I in the wrong here??? I feel like the Vision is touted to fall over and NOT break the fairing. In this case it did break and should not have. Should they not be correcting this?

I really need some input here because right now, Polaris is looking VERY bad and is one reason why I would deter my friend from the purchase of a Vision. In fact, he has been on the fence between an HD and a Vision. This could easily push him to HD (not a bad thing) but I can't honestly go to him and say..."Check out this awesome bike and the customer service".

Sorry about you issue but when you took ownership you signed off on the bike . The crack is not a defect but the result of abuse not by you, but you did not see it and report it before taking ownership

Just to be a bit more clear on some things...

The dealer is on YOUR side with this issue? Do they agree that this fairing should NOT have cracked?

Why does the dealer refuse to contact the regional rep? Did the dealer contact Polaris customer service as a customer service favor to you? Or did they contact Polaris because they feel it shouldn't have cracked?

You say "apparently" the bike was dropped, however not by you. Was it actually tipped over or not? Or due to the crack is this a assumption?

Is the fairing crack 100% from a tip-over? Could it possibly be from anything else, such as another form of impact, like something bumped into it?

I'm in no way questioning or accusing you or anything along these lines. I'm simply trying to get more information. And possibly play a bit of the "other side of the coin" here.

I edited my post. the dealer IS trying to get hold of the regional. Sorry for the confusion.

The dealer contacted Polaris on my behalf and they too feel it is the Flag Ship and should be corrected. At least that is the feeling I get. The dealer is on my side and wants to get this resolved. So, they are doing well in MHO.

I cannot tell you if the crack is 100% due to a tip over. The dealer did look and said the bike was on its side at some point. When/where/how...don't know. Could it have happened another way? Sure...I would assume so. But I don't know. As a matter of fact, I can't say the dealer did it either. But the fact is...there is a crack in the fairing and it was on its side.

I have zero problem with your questions. THIS is the reason I posted this. I want feedback. So, thank you for asking and posting your questions. I am not in any way saying that I am out to get Polaris. I am just trying to figure out if I have a case to bitch about or not. The reality is, when I am told one thing and then find that Polaris doesn't want to talk to me directly...THAT bugs me.

Reviewed this and sent an email to him asking what the resolution was. Should be an interesting response I would think!

Perhaps this is an insurance issue and not a Polaris problem. I recalled an earlier post which I won't find and dig up old bones, but it went something like this.

"No wifey, don't move my Vision, it's okay to sit outside until I get home. What's that? you moved it anyway. Why thank you dear. What's that? It fell on its side? No problem it has tip over proctection. What's that? It didn't make it to the tip over protection. You say the wall of the garage stopped it, no problem it is ABS plastic able to withstand sheetrock. What's that?...... Oh...."

Anyway, I understand that it was covered by insurance, but couldn't say for sure.

+1 on this. If it was shipping damage, and the dealer missed it before uncrating; it is on the dealer. Big Vi makes it VERY clear that they will only pay shipping damage if it is documented starting while on the palet. They MUST take this stand, or be forced to pay for every showroom ding that happens. It is unfortunate, but it needs to be done to protect them from unscrupulas dealers.

As to it's tip over protection. They are there to MINIMIZE damage. I have had a couple of bikes in that would have been saved except there was a rock, or curb in just the wron place. It is in insurane issue

I won't say whose problem that was as mentioned above with said wifey. But to the tune of the deductible $500 all became good as new. Still out of pocket though!

First off, Polaris/Victory has ALWAYS made it clear that ALL customers are to work through the dealer.
Second off, maybe it got hit in a parking lot and they stood it back up before you showed up.
There are way too many ifs.....
I think you will end up biting the bullet on this one I really can't see how you can blame Polaris or Victory. You have no way of proving where and when it was done.

Here is the latest update:

Polaris will not be taking care of this issue. I will need to deal with it on my own. I think I will order a set of toe protectors and put them on. This will at least put a band-aid on it for a bit until I can or will go through insurance. UGH!

Thank you all for your input. It is great to get some outside perspective before blowing a seam with the dealer(s) OR Polaris.

I do agree with most all of your input and have taken it on board.

Thanks again!

Whew! Now that is settled, and I'm still sorry over your misfortune, can you tell us what REALLY happened? Surely, if someone else can bust on their wifey unit and lay blame on her, I know you can come up with a whopper.

Ha ha! Poor wifey!

Yeah...the real story is simple. I was moving my bike the other day and the freakin Burger King came running over with whopper in his hands. I couldn't help myself...I just jumped off the bike like I had won the lotto and ran to grab my grub.

Damn automatic kick-stands!

I will say, I love my bike, I really do. However, while I realize that Victory is still young in terms of making motorcycles, they have disappointed me on some of the customer service aspects. Case in point, I have been waiting for over 6 months to get replacement saddlebags. In fairness, the dealer ordered them, and I went to the dealer to have them installed, and when they unpacked them right there in front me, they were damaged. That was 4 months ago. I think the dealer forgets to follow up, but the few times I have called them they've said that they are still on back order. How much of this is my dealer just not riding them, and how much is Victory...I dunno. I imagine a bit of both. But it took Victory several months to get them out, and then when they were, they were damaged. I was there when they ordered them the first time, so I know it was a lag on Victory the first go around.

I guess in short, I just feel that when you're the new kid on the block, you work extra hard to be better then everyone else to wni them over. They just seem like they have the attitude of the larger more established HD brand, and feel like you can wait. I guess I just expected more. That's all.

But, I still love the bike. Only that could make me ride today in 28F. I'm a warm weather wuss.

DS I felt your pain, but even after the bags where on there way I almost told them to just forget it. The dimple really wasn't that big a deal, so when they told me story after story about how they recieved both and one was damaged, I just said, "yeah, yeah." and went on. When they finally got them in I told them the bike wasn't going to stay overnight, but it just so happen to happen during a time I had to cage to SC just before Christmas, so they had my bike when I didn't even need it. After I got the bags on, I didn't even check them over, the bike being dirty, only reminded me I needed to wash it up which I finally did.

Like you, I love how this thing rides, and I love to ride enough that I'm riding to work with it 12 degrees out this morning. I don't think nothing of saddle bags because most of the time all I see is the dash. But I must say, even all the riding that I do, and having owned it for 14 months, I still walk out and pause to look and think "what a cool bike, I'd like to have one." Then realize that it is mine and and can't wait to get in the saddle and pull away...
