Now you know why I don't post very much anymore. Which I believe why there are hardly any new postings, this place has become mundane, and sterile.

What started out as a place to discuss, vent, chide, and just ramble, has become a place I find little excitement about coming too.

I have exchanged lettersonscreen with SandCamel***, who also feels somewhat similar to myself. We have exchanged the idea of setting up a website that would be just what this place started out as "The campFire with a common theme!" But not limited only to a specific bike or thoughts.

The attitude has changed along with the theme. As with anything, this place has become an amalgamation of its current contributors. Which is good or bad for the evolution of this site, I don't know, it just doesn't seem to fit me anymore.

The more you (site admins) close threads that have little to nothing to do with motorcycles, the more you kill the site.
This place started out with guys rambling about a Vision even though very few had them, a lot of question and answer threads. Posting pics, chiding each other or supporting one another. At some point, you get the feeling after multiple posts, you start to understand where they come from and their attitude in the way they formulate their sentences. You start to even expect their responses or their advice, especially if it turns out to be legit and good advice.

This is what makes a buddy or good friend, good advice that you don't have to double check or question their motive. You take it for what its worth.

The guys/gals on here were following the rules set forth a while back about putting a "OT" for Off Topic purposes on the Subject line to let others know about this. However, if you couldn't tell from the title about a question about a Hot water Heater was non Motorcycle related, maybe you need to visit the dictionary or encyclopedia, both of which are online, or do like most and just Google. Or, As was stated earlier, maybe you don't visit the thread concerning the Hot water heater. Common Sense Rules. I didn't see where that thread was out of line or even bordering on argumentative. There was another one that was closed and same deal, absolutely no irritation, couple of good points and debatable, nothing out of line, just a discourse amongst associates or even friends.

I, myself, have been a member on this site for over a year, I looked forward to showing up and giving a little piece of what was in my mind. Helping and/or just trying to poke fun at the world around us or at each other. To me showing up, was like showing up at the campfire, with your buddies and a common interest. Of course, all the side conversations and off topic jokes and thoughts just randomly going throughout the course of those seated around, is and always will be a way to promote thought and ingenuity or the pursuit of information.

There has been only one thread that really got to bashing and was subsequently closed, however, I was enjoying the vollies across the net. I even complained about closing it cause I was trying to respond to it.

I would hate to know that all the time I have spent on here and made it part of my life, that I am unable to ask the people I have come to trust for good advice, that I am unable to ask about water heaters, dirt bikes, pacemakers, colonoscopy procedures (this is an older group), or even Viagra (you know who you are)!!! Muahahahahahaa!!!
It would seem a waste of time to have to go to the other sites, login, get a feel and try to figure out who you could trust or even glean through the vast amounts of info. Why not just post it here! It has been asked before to create an Off Topic area, so this problem wouldn't happen. I'm kinda spent typing, I need some Viagra and Coffee.

Hopefully, ya'll can come up with a solution to maintain a happy and flexible site.

MMUUUUaahhHAHAAAAH!!!

Now that right there is funny, I don't care who ya are! I have heard of those systems but never known anyone to use one. I definitely wouldn't have know some of the advantages or disadvantages of one. Or that a guy could service his entire neighborhood with one.

I do wonder why I don't have hot water to wash my Vision during the winter. My hands wouldn't get so cold.

I have to back Miles on this one.  There are tons of forums for every other topic.  I'd hate to see this site turn into a bunch of rabbit chasing or bashing that has nothing to do with the Vision.  I know there are a bunch of smart guys here with varied backgrounds but this is THE Vision site for the entire web.  People don't want to click on here and see a bunch of topics that have nothing to do with the bike.

Watching guys come up with new mods and solutions to making Victory and Vision better is not boring or mundane to me.

Songfan, I agree to some respect. But you don't really see a lot of problems with the bike that people are complaining about. The mods are slowly working their way out to us. The most entertaining at the moment is yours and others posts on the posters. Which are awesome, by the way! Keep'em coming, I keep clicking on the thread. Not really a Vision Resource but a good distraction with some thought and good structure to it.

Having met you, in person, you seem to be the kind of guy I could easily hang with anywhere, say around a campfire. Your advice has always been in good taste and very accurate. I trust you more, than, I would some other person on another forum spouting his opinion on a water heater I have no experience with. This, of course, could be expanded to any other topic. Why not just make another section for Off-topic ideas, which keeps it out of the main forum of Vision related IDEAS. Most forums I visit have this setup for just that purpose. I understand the point of keeping it Vision related. But, if I need advice from one of my buddies, who knows how to clean a Savage 650 carb, who do I ask or where do I post it at. I could go over to a Suzuki Savage 650 forum, but I don't know those guys or the accuracy of their information. I don't know the accuracy of the information here, just my own experience with the people that make up the site, like you and I.

"Watching guys come up with new mods and solutions to making Victory and Vision better is not boring or mundane to me." Me either, I enjoy just about anything Vision or motorcycle related.

Maybe it's the winter weather or that I haven't ridden in a while, is getting to me.. But sometimes you gotta post something. I can get out an ride occasionally, but for the guys up North, OOOOWWEEEEEE.
I'm still here, just trying to progress the site. Maybe a little winded, but that happens.

While I want to discuss any new Vision findings, the bike itself leads to mundaness in this forum. While it's a very good bike, there are only so many things that can be said about it, and the trips taken on it. And the inventions that come of a result are few and far between.

Toss in a plethora of quality issues and gripes about the bike and Polaris service, and pretty soon, there's nothing more to read or say.

Personally, we're all adults (some of us may not act it or like being referred to as one), and we can choose what we read here or what we contribute to.

America as become way to politically correct in my opinion, and we're losing individual rights and freedoms every day because of that.

I for one enjoy the off-topic discussions, have found very few offensive in any way, and if they are to me, I simply don't read it or respond to it.

I too find this place much more boring than any of the other sites I visit. Kind of like I feel about the Vision in that it no longer excites me (touring bikes never have), but it services my touring needs well. I don't dislike it, but I don't adore it either. I simply like what it does, and how it does it. Kind of like my wife of 40 years.

But then, a Goldwing or Ultra Classic wouldn't excite me either they way my Duc does or my MV Agusta does.

Speaking about cupholders and the Utopia backrest and helmet locks that sometimes freeze up can lead to only so many discussions.

I appoligize if my inquire offended anyone.I thought that putting "OT" in front of it was allowed. I have gained much insight from this site about the Vision and possiable mods.I just wanted to ask people who were smart enough to buy a Vision about a major home appliance before spending any bucks and getting scalded. I will never do it again but I really did get the info I was seeking and thank those who responded including the Admin who gave me links.

As much as I cringe as I type this, I must say I support the words of the chickenman from the veneer state and keep this post on theme, I too want to talk about things other than a motorcycle or my VISION. There, I kept the post on topic, motorcycle and Vision. Not no bust on JAM or Miles, I applaude you two and carry much respect for you as this site rocks and carries more of a following than the other Vision specific attempts at forums. But I too have drifted away as it really has become another HD or Wing forum, blah, blah, blah, with exception of a few great topics, one in particular that has been going on. (not the motivational post, sorry SF, still a great threed just the same).

So I questioned myself after having been a part of threads that have closed and even starting one or two that was abrutly closed with apologies why can't we have a O.T. thread like some other sites that I have frequented lately? I do the forum thing to stay in touch in case I need you, or to become a friend or to catch up on the latest, but some of the threads are pointless, so why not give them a home?

I realize that forums will be whatever the content provider is, but to maintain an interest there needs to be, no must be a free-for-all section. On the other site I started a thread that was unrelated to the header and it was quickly moved, with apologies, but it had a place to go and felt good that it continued even after the move. I feel like I've really been bad when you slam a thread closed and have to think long and hard before starting a thread, often time saying forget it. I've babbled more than anyone else on here and I've only been a part of this forum about 13 months, so I know some are sick of reading my stuff and could careless if I post or not post. But this is the beauty of the internet....

By the way wolfman, I had no problem with your post, I did though check to see how quick it would be closed only after reading the title and not even opening it. SLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watch dem fingers.....

TrekWolf164 - You must continue to pursue your quest for Hot Water! I know I like mine, without having to heat it on the stove. Been there done that without the T-shirt. I say ask, let'em get all up in arms.

I will say, with all due respect, that I do not know what forum you are talking about in the above statement. This site nor the future Kingpin-Riders, Vegas-Riders etc, proport to be ANYTHING but sites to discuss the Victory brand and models. Off-Topic issues related to the brand or to motorcycling on the whole are certainly welcome. Victory-Riders.com exists as a social network where you can create your own "space."

Thank you for your comments, and hopefully your continued participation in the support of Victory Motorcycles and Motorcycling in general.

Please send a note to webmaster@Vision-riders.com if you would like to discuss this further.
