Lets all face it, we all have one common interest amongst all of us or we wouldnt be here.
So now that this is a given, lets move on to what our site host and a few members feel is
a problem. Off Topic Chats. Human behavior dictates that even if we all met in person
every monday at the "I own a Victory Vison Fan Club", the room of members and their conversations would quickly vary toward other non related topics of mutual interest. There is
no difference here on this site. By sharing the common interest, this allows all of us to develop
a sense of trust and compainionship for other areas. In this day where Americans suffer such
huge levels of distrust, non communication, me first, selfish mentalities, only a moron would
squealch positive conversations.
So the most logical thing to do on here would be to add an OffTopic catagory under
General Discussion, Tech Q&Q, Articles etc. Those who have need for information
can use that page, and those that are strictly here for Victory Vision chat can simply choose
to not click on that Forum.
So it doesnt get out of hand, the forum can be cleared weekly so that its size doesnt grow too large. The other idea is what I do on here peridiocally, if there is something that I feel is related or semi related and not worthy for everyones eyes I post my question then ask that
anyone who can answer it email me directly. Therefore you have one simple post, but you may
receive 4-5 answers that are not posted and possibly irritating other members.
Lets try to work on something positive instead of cutting out great forms of bonding and communicating. there, thats my nuts and bolts on human behavior.

I agree on the need for an OT forum. Every single other forum I belong to has an OT forum. Heck some of them even have two OT forums, one for basic OT posts and another for OT piss/moan/bitch/swear posts.

Personally I disagree with the OT forum being cleared weekly. I've never seen a forum that does this.

If its possible with this forum software one option to consider is a member needs a minimum post count before they are allowed to post in the OT forum. Something like 20 posts. This will help keep some idiots from creating a new user name and then jumping on a topic and flaming someone.

Thank you for your input and suggestions. However, Vision-Riders.com will remain a site dedicated primarily to and about Victory and Victory-Vision motorcycles, along with some other motorcycle related information. You might consider visiting the social networking site www.Victory-Riders.com where the tag line is even "It's all about the Riders!"

Thanks.

It is the middle of winter... My Vision is on a motorcycle jack in the garage with a battery tender and a cover on it, and in many parts of the country the situation is, I'm sure, much the same. Just not a lot to discuss about the bikes in this circumstance, and what there is seems to getting a fair number of posts. Have patience, Spring is just around the corner and things will pick up.

Mudge, man I'm sorry, but it is 60+ here and though I ride everyday, I only had to wear my vest with a sweatshirt. Man, it is like summer time. I just got back from a cage match and I'm going to head out on the HD, highly delectable Vision before the sunny goes down. I think the fair weather riders took the day just for the occassion because I've seen several bikes out today, no Visions though. Supposably there is 3 or 4 around my area, but I've only met one of them, come on guys, where are you?!

Sorry for the typo you cannot expect perfection prior to coffee. The only reason I suggested limiting the OT posts to clear after one week was that it would be a simple way of keeping the sites band width or whatever it is that limits how much site you are given, thats all. Sorry what seems so simple, apparently isnt.

I wrote an email to the webmaster asking for an OT forum. It was a very kind response, and I felt better that they took the time to actually read my email. However, I still feel that an OT forum would be greatly appreciated. I understand some of the resons for not setting one up, but I think it would be a nice service. I doubt anyone here would abuse it with profanity or cause arguments. I guess I am just disappointed that's all. I love coming here and discussing motorcycles, but I think an OT forum would be great just to have fun.

Thanks to all those who provided input on this topic. It is appreciated.

I'm closing this thread now, as the topic has essentially run its course, and further discussion isn't going to change anything regarding off-topic threads.

As has been stated, the purpose of this site is to provide the latest and best information on/about the Victory Vision motorcycle and of course anything related to Victory and motorcycling in general is considered just an expansion of that.

If you are looking for a forum more based on riders and your experiences, than I suggest our hub site, www.Victory-Riders.com where you can create your own "space" and have your own blog's etc etc..

Thanks again to each of you who posted here, and those who sent PM's and eMails.
