New Vision owner. I have a Zumo 550. I have been reading all the mounting posts and I am now cross-eyed. I don't want to make permanent mods. For now, why can't I just mount Zumo on handlebars (with modified u-bolt) and run zumo wires to the battery? I realize this doesn't produce sound but I could always utilize the Ipod connection if I want sound.

Help

Ed,
That would work! make sure and leave enough room (wiring) for turning.

That's exactly what I did.  I mounted both my Zumo 550 and a Kruzer Kaddy on my left side handlebar with plentyy of room.

I used a 1/4-20 u bolt and covered the u end with black heat shring to help with grip and avoid waring the bars, then trimmed down the excess thread and used stainless acorn cap nuts to hide the threaded enda.  Looks great and has pleanty of clearance for turning.

I saw a photo with the Zumo mounted behind the windshield above the gauges. I thinking that might be better for line of site

You will need real long arms if you want to interact with the buttons or touch screen while seated.

Right Hand, Yes. Left Hand wouldn't be a problem, or so I wouldn't think so.?

It does need to be where the passenger can see how over the speed limit you are traveling. They need entertainment too.
