I'm presently in the process of taking my bike apart to paint. Basically I'm taking off all the gray and having it painted cherry to match the rest of the bike. I've noticed a few other members have done this, but I'm going one step farther.

I'm going to take out the top of the dash (already out) and have it painted along with the inner fairing, (where the front speakers are). I have the mirrors off and it is just about ready to come out, but how does the crome plastic piece that goes around the speedo area come out??? That is what is holding me up.

I'm also stumped on getting the console piece out, ( the aluminum trim piece where your ignition switch and radio presets are). Bike is just about ready for paint, except for these two trouble areas.

I have the rear done including the grab handles.

I think it'll look pretty good with the "entire inner fairing" area painted

Thanks,

Take a plastic wedge and pry on the lower edge of the chrome bezel at about the 8:00 o'clock position and it will pop off. You can then do the same for the 4:00 o'clock position. It just pops off and is held in with spring clips.

The techs at my dealership scratched my dash using screwdrivers pulling it off.

You can buy the plastic wedges (look like putty knives out of plastic) from just about any tool buying place. They are used to remove door panels and dash broards.

Take care.

After you have the chrome around the gauges off, open the glove compartment and gas door and pull up on the panel below the center console. You will now have access to all the fasteners holding the center console in place.

Thank you both very much!!

One other question: The side panels on each side with the "lighted Victory emblem", How do they come out? I have taken out 2 bolts on each side, but I know something else is holding them in, maybe up around the gas tank.

Thanks again,

I'm going to advise finding a manual before you start pulling this part, but here is the basics
Remove console
Remove the two 13mm studs that secure the rear panel
Remove the two 6mm allens form the front of the top panels
unclip gas door cable from ign switch
unclip lock cable for storage nook from ign switch
Remove the 6mm allen bolts form storage cubby, and gas cap area
Lift, and remove top panels[there is also a couple of clips\speaker grills can be left in place
Remove the now exposed 6mm allens fom the side panels
Remove the 6mm allens that secure the front tip overs
Remove the two 10mm bolts that secure the front of the panels
Lift up to unclip the side panel
Now you can remove the aluminum pieces

Again you may want to find a manual before you start this

You can find the service manual at the link below. Tnx David.

The service manual contains everything you ever wanted to know about the 2008 Victory Vision but were afraid to ask.

Enjoy.
