I changed the oil last night and all went well. I used the Wix 51356 and Amsoil 20w-50. I plan on planning better next time. I bought the oil at a local shop for a few dollars more then I wanted. It is nice to buy local but next time I will order it ahead of time.

I had to reuse the washer. I bought a 12 mm washer from the parts house and the I.D. was fine but the O.D. was a bit large. I will buy a few to put in my parts supply for the next change.

I was given a funnel by my next door neighbor. It was great for putting the old oil back in the bottles to send to recycle but a little short (but worked) to refill the Vision. I will add a funnel to my list of things I need to buy.

I did not have a 2 1/2 inch oil filter wrench....no problem I just used some large channel locking pliers. I will be buying a proper oil filter wrench in the future....well maybe.

varyder, your killing me man...ha ha.

I went ahead & got a few extra washers from the dealer. Tryin to find them cheaper and the right size was more of a task as I've got some of the right size hole but the are too big around. I try to make sure my tools I carry has everything for the road. My filter "wrench" is a hose clamp in conjuction with either pliers or good grunt and push with the screwdriver. I don't suggest the srewdriver manuever as it can slip. The last time I was able to grip and turn with hand, and I didn't eat my wheaties. I've got a small but long funnel I use that works well.

varyder,

My brother used to just stab across the old oil filter with a 3 or 4 inch long Philips screwdriver and twist. I just can not bring myself to that kind of violence. I shot some video of the oil change last night and I might post it on Youtube later.

Tonight I am going to do the rest of the inspections and checks for the 7500 Mile checkup.

One half an inch to a full inch of rain is predicted today so I drove the '03 Trailblazer.

I will buy washers on Saturday from Napalm in Austin. They are hosting the demo bikes and I want to ride the Kingpin Low.
