When I get on it, specially gears 1 thru 3, I notice I put out a lot of dark exhaust. Just wanted to know if anyone else is noticeing this? and is it normal? i never realized it until a riding buddy pointed it out. I then made a point to check my mirriors, and sure enough.

I was told that vic motors like to run rich in order for them to run properly. Dont know how true that is?? ( vision is my first vic ) Mine runs a tad rich and may blow a little black out when I really work it. But then again my bike pops/backfires on up shift's 2,3,4th gears mainly and never on down shift's. Never had a bike do that before either. I'm sure a fuel controller and dyno would solve that but my local vic dealer does not have a dyno and im not sure the place here in the Tri cities can dyno my vic with the fuel controllers available for the vision. I know on my old bike with a power commander on it was not an issue to dyno so?? Any advice...

What kind of oil are you using?

Sorry, don't go there, don't even answer that question...

Mine seems to have always run rich and I've had a popping issue at stops and taking off, never underway. Though it has done a couple "flat spots" while running the interstate where it seems to cut of in a split second and then keeps running. My dealer told me originally the popping was caused by running lean, but S1L1 would take care of that. When he saw all the soot on the tail, he said that it was running rich and S1L1 would take care of that. It seems that not only Victory but all the bike makers are having trouble with the closed loop, or so I hear. On the Victory side there are those who says regardless what pipes and maps they run, it still pops, and then there are those who put on the different pipes the pop went away. I've heard some running stock has never ever had a problem.

When I first got my Vision and had the popping I complained to the dealers and put post after post on here and the other site and everyone thought I was imagining things. Now that is an acknowledged characteristic of some of the Vision and Victory issued a recall for a mapping problem. Mine subsided the most when I checked and tightened the exhaust bolts.

Sounds to me that Victory has to refine their EFI CL some more as long as the EPA doesn't change things yet again.

You could try running a small amount of 'Seafoam' in the gas at each fill. The stuff does a marvelous job of keeping excess carbon from building up!

Im running a power commander on mine and it has all but eliminated the backfire when up shifting. Prior to the power commander i found if i ran each gear to 3500 rpm then shifted it did not backfire. Seems gas milage has improved a couple of gallons and performance is also better.

I think I read a post from Lloyd that said you want some coloration at the tip of your pipes. If it has not coloration....that's not a good think.

Did a lot of riding around town today on the first tank using seafoam and it seemed to do really well. A few hesitations, and one or two pops when under those conditions I don't know if it will be running when I hit the throttle. Seems like seafoam works well.
