Gettysburg, 2008 Tour Premium | Trying to decide on an 08 vs 09 and wanted to know if the rough finish on the 08 wheels is as difficult to clean as it looks to be. Just a couple of 08's left around here and I need to decide.

Kansas City, Ks | I wouldn't say that the 08 wheels are hard to clean, but the 09's billet wheels will be easier.
And cleaning the rear wheel will be a pain on both!!!

Under the Rule of Jedi - Masshole | Since I own bikes with billet, chrome, and clear coated, I'll chime in.
Easiest to clean and keep looking clean were the painted/clear coated rims I had on my 99c.
Next are the chrome rims on the hammer. Easy to clean, but show dirt quickly.
Last is the billet. You really need to polish ( as in lots of work) to keep them looking good. Sure they look almost as good as chrome when clean, but like I said, you need to stay on them.
My 08 Vision rims are easy to keep looking nice. I'm hoping to power coat them this winter. Do I wish I had chrome, yes, if I could keep the rear clean, but I'm also glad I don't have billet on this bike. Rear would never get polished.

Santa Maria CA | I have an 08 and the wheels are easy to keep clean. I just spray detail polish and wipe off or a damp cloth. I have bilet wheel on another bike and I am aways polishing. |

Spfld, IL but temp Bay area, CA | 08's are easy to clean but unless you have a stand that let's the rear spin free (I don't), the rears are a PAIN |

Ruskin, Fl | I need two new tires. Spoke to the dealer today. While the wheels are off the bike the rims and the rear pully are going for powdercoat. Has to look better than the stock gray. |

Ruskin, Fl | I'm going with "wet black". Should be very high gloss. Tires need to be replaced forthwith, so I'll drop it off after next weekend. Photos as soon as I get it done. |

| I mentioned this issue to a friend who has an '08 Vision and he says the easiest way to do the rear wheel (and detail the bike itself) is to lay it over on one side (put some carpet or something down for the tipovers), do one side then flip it over. I haven't tried leaning it over and picking it back up yet (I'm muscularily challenged) however I've seen him do it w/no problem. |

| I have the stock 08 wheels. Spray with simply green, walk away for 5 minutes, spray off with hose..... If you need to run the wheel around the two best options I've found are bike lift/jack, or tip it over. The standard wheels clean up easy and don't get dirty easily IMO |

Boydsville, AR United States | I have 2 pcs of 3/8" particale board about 18" square. I lay the bike on these and use my shop stool to scrub the lower parts of the bike, and wheels. Works good for me. If you do it the right way and use your back, It lifts easy. |

Pittsburgh, PA | ive had many bikes and my last scooter had Custom R.C. wheels. i will say my 2008 vision (non-chrome) wheels are by far the easiest i have had to keep clean! Im glad they arent chrome and you wouldnt even barely see the rear one anyways! and because of this, i dont even clean them that much. and when i do, i use a wheel cleaner spray and let it sit, then hose it off.. i have yet in one year have had to scrub my wheels. but when i had chrome wheels holy crap was that another story! |
