Now I know why some guys hate the styling of the vision. Its because it will attract more attention at a place like "Thunder on the Beach bike rally" in Panama City Fla than most $70k bikes. It was just amazing how so many very nice bikes just got lost in the crowd yet no matter where I (with all my HD buddies) went people would walk up to us, point at my vision and say who owns that.

It is something that you will get used too. Please tell the people checking out the Vision to say something nice about your friends rides. If you do not mention your friends, they might not invite you to ride anymore.

Since 2000 I have been riding to Sturgis with a Harley buddy and meeting up with six other Harley riders that trailer out. We ride together for the week and have a good time.

Last year we spent a lot of time parked when people stopped and wanted to talk about the Vision and comment on what a great looking bike it is as well as the other features. On one occasion a guy actually stepped in front of me so I had to stop just so he could talk about bike. It was obvious they were getting pissed with the attention the Vision was getting. We didn't ride together much after that and not at all this year.

Well last week I was told that by the guy I ride out with that he was going to trailer out with the rest of the riders and that they wanted this year to be an all Harley group ride.

You hit the nail on the head; if you steal their thunder don't like it.

So I guess they will all be lining up to put in their order for the new HD 2x4 bike then, lord knows they will need something thats
eye catching, and new technology, otherwise they will just continue to be blobs of metal plastic and rubber that all looks the same.
Humanity- cannot function unless all do the same, think the same, talk the same, and believe the same.

Sorry that your riding buddy seems to be succumbing to peer group pressure and becoming another "Harley Dude" instead of a motorcyclist , but I am seriously ROTF LOL.

Only in "Harley Speak" could "trailering" a bunch of bikes 650 miles be considered a "Group Ride".

If that had you ROTF I can't imagine what this next story will do to you.
Last year we went to the Full Throttle Salon, now if you have never been there it is a zoo for parking so everybody grabs the first spot they can and we meet inside. When it came time to leave my buddy who rides a 06 Road King couldn't find his bike right away (imagine that) in fact he tried to start three other Road Kings before he found his, and he doesn't drink. As for me I walked right to my Vision and rode away.

When it gets right down to it I guess if had to ride a Harley 650 miles in one day I would rather trailer it to.

If they did trade UP to the new 2x4 at least they would be justified to P&M about the ride and the fact s--- keeps falling off.

I have always laughed...your bike is so comfortable to ride you put it in a trailer and take it out there..."built for the open road" (ten minutes at a time).

I understand a trailer on the back of your bike...but a bike inside a trailer...there's something terribly wrong with that!

Ride on!

I rode a Street Glide and sold it in the fall. I told myself that I'd rather have the money but I think the reality was that I just didnt love the bike. Well all my buddies who all ride HD's are glad that I just got another bike so that I could go riding again. They really are a good group of folks. If they werent I wouldnt ride with them. I also think that one or two of them might have a Victory in thier near future afting having the oportunity to see my new joy of riding on my vision.

There are motorcycle enthusiasts, there are 'die hard' bikers and there are HARLEY SNOBS. I still ride with the local HOG chapter (got off my Heritage Classic and got on the STARSHIP) and after all of their good natured kidding have accepted me as the fellow rider I was when I was on a Harley.

Some have even told me in confidence that they would love to get on a VISION but couldn't handle the flak, but there are several HARLEY SNOBS that still have a big problem with me riding with their group.

I just smile and enjoy the STARSHIP.

My wife told me the other day, she is beginning to hate to ride her Yamaha behind me because cars pull up in the next lane and start to swerve when they are checking out the Vision.

Yesterday I was parked next to a few Harleys for lunch, and when the owners came out they ignored the Vision, but the passengers took out their camera and began taking photos of it. I don't think there is anything in the HOG code of conduct book yet on how they should act around a Victory. I get complements from every other type of motorcycle rider except Harley owners.

Appreciate the offer but after being culled from the group my S/O and I have decided it was time for us to take my dream bike trip. We leave home July 26th and travel thru the Black Hills over to West Yellow, thru the Tetons over to Salt Lake and ride in the Wasatch Mountains down to California to visit friends then back up to Colorado thru Durango, Ouary, Gunnison, Leadville, and Breckenridge up to Estes Park and thru the Rocky Mountain National Park and home.

We will be leaving the Denver area about the same time you'll be leaving Sturgis.

The good lord willing I'll be there next year and if the offer still stands we'll meet and ride.

Next year, ride out here, spend the night, and ride with us to sturgis. I should only be a hard day to get here, and it is a easy day fro here. I have a place to camp, as my son lives right out side Rapid. We would welcome you. On another note, I get most of my questions, and comments from Harley Riders.

I appreciate it sir. But I fear one night of camping and my poor old back would be all done in. I stay at a hotel just off I90 at exit 58. I would however enjoy meeting up with and riding with the people form this site.

I agree about the Harley riders comments and questions most are kind, sincere and complementary its the guy's whose heads have not seen the light of day for the past 105 years or are to busy getting their Kool Ade refills that get to me.

I was just sitting here enjoying my Sunday evening libation when I thought; how great would it be to have a gathering of Vision Riders somewhere.

I recall someone posting that very idea and suggesting somewhere in the central U.S. like Lake of the Ozarks but I never heard anything after that.

I wonder how many people from this site are going to Spirit Lake in August.

I'm sure there's a lot of guys like me out here. I'm in Eastern North Carolina and I simply don't have the time off from work to get to national rallies... especially on the other side of the mountains.

I DID get to go to the Outer Banks Rally, (5 hours away) but it was not a Vision thing (far from.. good thing I LIKE being weird).

It's not a matter of time in the saddle. The bike and I can go places. It's a matter of time from work/family.

If there get to be any regional Vision gatherings, I'll be there if its w/i 10 hours of home. Anything further and its not worth it when I only have a weekend. If there were a vote, I'd elect regional rallies.

I've got a new friend who rides a R.K. He mentioned he had ridden the Vision at Arlen Ness in Dublin, CA. "The bike was so smooth I didn't realize I was going 95MPH, wow! Then I got back to Arlen Ness and got back on my R.K. and thought what a p.o.s. I have..........
