The photos we snuck in and shot dont do the bike justice. I understand HD is working on the marketing stratigy for the bike as we speak but it looks like it will resemble something below.

" At Harley, we turn heads, we turn boys into men, we turn women into men. How can a motorcycle company develop a product so simple, yet stop traffic all the while remaining green for the environment? Harley Davidson presents to you our newest, leanest, cleanest motorcycle ever developed for the modern motorcyclist. Born from the ground up, just like
a tree grows from a twig, we proudly present to you the 2010 Harley Davidson 2x4 !
The other American motorcycle company has The Core, but we have the 2x4, go out and get your own today, ride like the wind, (accessories include sand paper, stain, glue, and some rusty nails.

Now that's darn funny. Speaking about the core....is Victory really going to launch it or were the photos we saw a teaser of what the basic bike's going to be? I think I remember Song saying that they are going to change the seat, etc.

I understand these are spy photos, and more than likely this is a prototype, but the one shown above, does it have the optional high gloss clear coat flame retardant?

News Flash-----------

It was announced today that the Team HD Wrecking Crew will be riding the new 2x4KDV (Knock Down Version) for all dirt track events in 2011.

Updated team uniforms are said to include hand turned walnut "Salad Bowl" helmets made by Norm Abrams of the PBS DYI series The New Yankee Workshop.

In a related event, plans to distribute a street legal version of the new motorcycle through Ikea stores is under discussion. Focus groups have been working on finding a suitably obscure Swedish sounding name for the new model.

Yaardart has been suggested but legal challenges from the gnome lobby are underway.

In an interveiw this morning HD styling icon Willie G. Davidson defended the new HD 2x4 and its variants.

Davidson stated that "the best part of owning an HD is being able to make it your own by customizing it, we have provided the motorcyclist with limited mechanical skills an ideal vehicle to express themselves. With a few simple woodworking tools the back yard carpenter can create his own dream machine."

Traditional customs are called choppers; "we like to think of 2x4 based customs as a Chippers".

Wearing a new HD t-shirt emblazoned with the message "Measure Twice - Cut Once" Davidson insisted that the biggest part of HD's recently declining revenue had always come from accessories and clothing, and predicted that the motor companies stock price would rebound sharply with the announcement that a new line of 2x4 specific clothing and "glue on" accessories will be available at product launch.

Journalists who test drove the 2x4 were presented with sterling silver tweezers with the HD logo.

I was sooooooooooo hoping you guys would take my original post and run with it !!! THANK GOD you all did, this has been the best laugh ive had all year !! Keep it up, its better than bitching and whining and truly shows each or your creative writing abilities.
..... although some of you guys reallly need to practice spelling ha ha ha ha..

In a recent spy intercepted email from HD research, there is a concern about warranty on tires should there be flats incurred from
splintered shars of framework. Expect a passenger "seat" to arrive mid 2012, they are working with a new technology called
formica which I hear can be glued to the surface of the 2x4 seat frame and provide a more solid rigid seating surface. Colors will include granite, marble, tan, beige, and brown.

ROFLMAO! EXCELLENT STUFF! The 2x4, you're killing me.. I hope they sell a Northern hemisphere rain soaked "Pressure Treated" version. Maybe even a pine version for the authentic outdoorsman.

An upbeat Willie G. Davidson today celebrated the widely anticipated release of the the HD 2x4PTW-SE. The 2X4PTW-SE is constructed of pressure treated southern yellow pine a fast growing plentiful "softwood" known for its toughness and rot resistance.

The motorcycle world had been anxiously awaiting the release of the PTW in anticipation that this frame material would allow HD to create a Screaming Eagle version of the 2x4 with a higher performance engine.

Industry experts had viewed recent Consumer Product Safety Commission rulings lifting the ban on lead content in ATVs intended for use by children, and EPA rulings confirming the societal benefits of heavy duty wood preservatives such as chromated copper arsenic, pentachlorophenol and creosote as signals that any potential legal problems that might have blocked the planned release of the PTW version of the HD 2x4 were over.

"Tough, plentiful and now more powerful. These are terms that we hope the motorcycle buying public will associate with the 2x4. We are especially pleased with the decision to partner with Kholer to provide powerplants" Davidson opined.

Meanwhile a sneak peak at page 24 of the new motorcycle operators manual showed that while publicly HD is putting a positive spin on these developments their legal department is obviously concerned.

1. Wash up. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water (not a waterless hand cleaner) after riding on or handling arsenic-treated wood.
2. Keep children and pets away from the motorcycle. Do not store toys or tools near motorcycles made of arsenic-treated wood.
3. Avoid pressure-washing arsenic-treated wood, and avoid using an acid "deck wash" or brightener that contains chlorine. These treatments speed up the leaching of arsenic out of the wood.
4. Wear gloves, goggles, and a dust mask when sanding, sawing, or drilling arsenic-treated wood.

This thread got me thinking that there had to be guys out there who are better at building wooden motorcycles than this barn job we've been referring to as the HD 2x4.

So here is a sampling of what I have discovered on the internet.

We cant begin without a photo of the bike that started it all; the 1885 Daimler steam powered motorcycle.

But what about the bikes made by the Portuguese woodworker who builds fully functional scooters and motorcycles. This guy is talented. Check out the scooter build shots. Amazing.

Or this You-Tube video of the crazy, intricate, full sized, all wood 1941 Indian 4 replica in Montreal.

Pretty Cool as far as I'm concerned.

nice, but off target. This post was solely about new HD technology and design competing with the Victory Core. Lets not muddy the stain by introducing other forms of non realistic competition. The HD2x4 is now in final production. HD marketing has approached the
company who designed the marketing for the Geico Gekko with the idea of introducing "Terrence" the HD Termite. ...something about chewing up the road...blah blah we will all have to wait to see the end result.
