New Bohemia, VA | Okay, as of tonight the bentley is in the hanger for its 44,500 mile service, front and rear tire, belt, exhaust gasket, oil change, fork oil change and crash repair. Who knows when it will be back in flight. Jeepers....that is I'll be jeepin' until I can finish the phase. Happy flying fellow Vision Pilots.... |

Madison, AL | Well it is a good thing you have a support group here. I know the hands start to tremble and the brow starts to sweat when I think of not having my Vision around. Must be love. You are certainly racking up the miles and I can think of no better way to do so than from the cockpit of a Vision. |

New Bohemia, VA | Invested about 3 hours tonight getting the bike on the jack and getting the front and rear tire off to take and get the new ones tomorrow. Rear is right at 15k and just on the wear bars, front, well, I don't want to shame myself, though it does have about 23k on it.
Go figure, my handy dandy craftsman jack cylinder pressure relief decided to mess up on me. So I've got the bike up, with no way to get it down as it is on the lockbar. I'll worry with that when I get all else done. Tomorrow, late night to get the belt pulled, or at least started. I've only got a few hours to work on it in the evening hopefully it will be back together on Friday. I plan to go see Pop for Fathers Day and may ride down on Saturday to see my daughter. I spent about a half hour on the phone with her tonight as she has been sick as well as two of the granders. 
I've got my task ahead of me for sure. And by the way, the exhaust has been leaking again at the crossover on the left side.

LaPorte,Tx. | Chris, could you put together a little write up on the fork oil change? My dealer was suppose to do mine at 15000 miles, I don't believe they did it. In reading over the service manual the forks have to come off the bike and I know t hey didn't do that. Anyway I'm at 30,000 miles and they are suppose to do it again. If they don't I may tackle myself. The manual is pretty explicit, but your experience would be helpful also. Thanks. |

New Bohemia, VA | progress report: Got the exhaust from the crossover back off. Not so bad, the exhaust at the engine seems to be the hardest and that is what has to be loosen or taken off to get the belt off. The belt is NOT a road side task.
As far as the forks go, yes they must come off the bike. If they did it right and your bike is clean you really shouldn't tell they did the job in my opinion. I knew they did mine as it was dirty when I took it in and you could see the handling marks on the fork, plus they didn't wipe it down and there was oil drool on one of the forks. By how they discribe it, it will be very fun to do the forks on my own. I'm hoping to be back together by Saturday noon as I'll be taking a Father's day ride to see Pop, and hopefully I can ride him around the block at least once. |

New Bohemia, VA | invested four hours tonight; one minute to pull the cover and the belt off, 3 hours and 59 minutes pulling everything to get to the belt. I love this Vision. Most of you would cringe, or is cringing at the fact I"m in my 8 X 16 shed pulling exhaust and doing a belt change to my 1 and half old Vision. But I finally get a closer look at this machine and find it is very well designed and smartly assembled. I've looked at this thing close too where we got hit and friends, I can not find one crack or bend anywhere. I should say hit, we were rolled into and pushed about 3 feet. I think by pulling the stuff off and putting it back on, all should be well and good except a little paint and polish. I did notice however, the back hinge maybe slightly bent, but I'll get a closer look tomorrow. So far, I think I've got seven hours into this mission, and now I'll be ready to start reassembling tomorrow as well. I hope to test ride by Saturday noon. I'll try to take some more pictures before I start putting it back together and give a write up. |

New Bohemia, VA | took a break for a minute and decided to make a post. I am reassembling the bike now and so far have installed the new belt and preped the exhaust. I found a few nicks in the forging of the mating surface and strong evidence of leaks in both the front and rear exhaust ports and the pipe flange on the female end was bent on the crossover preventing closure even when tight. That has been corrected and I hope this part will be out of the way so if it still pops I'll know where to look next.
I need to get the bike back together tonight so I can finish up tomorrow and hopefully do the front forks. If not, I'll save the forks for another weekend. Well back to the hanger.... |

New Bohemia, VA | axle in the rear wheel, need to mount the swing arm in the morning and adjust and probably pull the forks...
got the rear bag stuff off and will put that on when I know all else is running.
