Here is the link. The video could have been better but I think I got most of the stuff covered. I did not have a shot of pushing the bar into the seat.

My cut turned out OK. I would do better if I did it again. I did not picture in my mind the purpose for the cut before I did the cut.

If I did it again, I would imagine that..... If I put my hand under the seat, right where the T-Bar goes and push the knife in from above. The knife should go through the foam......then slide along the plastic shell of the seat towards my hand under the seat.

There are three parts that really make it support properly.

One, the plastic shell of the seat, two the T-Bar that goes under the plastic seat shell and three the upright that goes over and next to the plastic shell.

The three pieces should fit together tightly and be parallel.

Well illustrated. Thanks for taking the time to do this. It eased my mind a little about cutting my seat up.

Thanks for the video! It looks as though you have to place the knife at a slight angle towards the front part of the shell, so the knife follows the angle of the seats shell as your are pushing it through the foam.

Easttexasrider,

I did removable option. It comes in two pieces in the box. The backrest is detached from the post that slides in.

After I installed the bolt that mounts the backrest to the bike......All I needed to do was firmly pull up on the backrest to remove it.

Sorry I did not show that part.

Pull off the access cover in front of your seat. You'll see the two fasteners that hold the seat on the bike. remove fasteners, lift up and forward until it comes free, unplug heated seat connector....

RadioTeacher, When I spoke to the very friendly woman at Utopia about my order, I mentioned
about the positive testimonials on this site about the backrest. I even mentioned that you have a video on the installation. She mentioned to me that she was interested in placing your video on their website as a helpful info guide, so to speak. She wanted to get your permission.

wjoel,

I will try to contact Utopia next week. I would be honored if they linked to the video.

Blue Sky Guy,

To remove the seat check out this video. FYI, you are supposed to open the gas door as well as the glove box to remove the panel.

Thanks, RT, you have really put some good stuff on video.
Yesterday, I installed a Cee Bailey 22" windshield and really like it........ except
the reflection from the shiny switch panel is a lot more evident than with the stock shield. There have been several mentions on the forum about painting this black. Is that a simple project? Also, I noted in your video that the sticker on the removable plate in front of the seat is still in place on your bike. I peeled mine off, and, of course, it left a mark.
