Was installing the plate and looking at the horrible looking factory bracket. I see that Arlen Ness makes a sweet chrome unit, but it is a hair pricey though.
Was wondering what others here are using as far as aftermarket options.
Can the nuts that hold the bracket be accessed from the backside? I have a tour, so its pretty hard to tell without removing the trunk. |

Fargo, ND | I agree with you. I had mine off and thought seriously about bending it...so the license plate would 'lay down' more. I reinstalled it without doing anything as of yet. Removal is with the 2 screws (no nuts on the back) you see when your license plate is removed. |

Well it appears that perhaps the Arlen Ness route is the only available alternative. Or find something else and figure out how to mount it so it looks good, which will probably require drilling...which I don't wish to mess with.
I have found it about $15.00 cheaper at http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/review.cfm?review_ID=4023377&mode...
I'm going to order one in a few minutes.

Illinois | What I was considering is cutting the stock backing plate down to just above the top 2 holes, and then buying a chrome frame with hidden hardware. Frame can be had for the 30.00-50.00 range and with a trunk you really would not see the Ness backing plate anyway. Make sense? |

northwest florida | I re-drilled the holes to put a chrome frame on mine. it moved the plate up about an inch or so. |

Tacoma, WA | I just made a new plate holder. I even incorporated a scrolling L.E.D. screen in it that can say 5 different lines. Right now it says "Spam is older than the Air Force" I work on an Air Force Base, so it is a hit! I made it out of aluminum plate.------Metalguy |

| I made a laydown plate for mine. I do not use the trunk but it will work if I want to put it back on. When I made it I lowered it down on the fender a little so that it clears for the trunk. It covers the license plate light so I got a frame with a light. I painted the existing light cover black. I am not good at posting pics but will email apic to you.
