A replica of Fonda's Captain America chopper - complete with ape-hanger handlebars, Old Glory gas tank and enough chrome to be seen from space - was on display at Revvin' It Up Downtown, Mid-Ohio Harley-Davidson's annual bike and hot rod cruise-in near City Hall Plaza.

The replica - "Dead-on to the last nut and bolt," Pitzer bragged - will be seen in "Easy Rider: The Ride Back," the new movie slated for release in November.

I'm not a movie person but that might be a good one...

I was 11 or 12 when Easy Rider came out and I could tell even then that I never going to be cool enough to ride a chopper.  The turn radius of an aircraft carrier, no brakes, no suspension and the peanut gas tank all struck me as pure misery.  It looked really good on them though.

Even if I was too practical to ever own a chopper, Easy Rider and The Endless Summer are the two movies that planted the seeds for me to get out there and enjoy the journey.  The destination is just an excuse to go.

I saw the movie in the theater and had to have a bike it took me time to work up to a chopper but I had a 750 Honda that was chopped poorly by someone else and with the peanut tank I could go about 75 miles before reserve. I looked at a Harley chopper in 75 and rode it around the block when I found that you could not turn corners with it you had to walk it around due to the inability to lean or turn the front end I figured you had to be a better man or least more stupid than I to think it was fun. I have a freind that sells current day choppers like the Big Dog but I still have no desire to ride but I think they have made them rideable now. To those who choose have a good time Archie
