| I've only got 450 miles on my 08, but noticed as soon as I went through the gears how clankey the trans is when shifting and how much whine there is in 2-3-4 gears. Anyone else have the same? |

Boydsville, AR United States | I have 4,000 miles on mine, and most of the whine is gone, except 6th makes noise. Dealer told me to live with it, as they are all that way. I said my old Kawasaki 1500 didn't make it, and was told they are quiter, cause they are smaller. Would synthetic help. I know in the past it sure made shifting easier with my Kaw. |

Pittsburgh, PA | Try same amsoil motorcycle oil and then see how your trany sounds. most people that use amsoil oil say their transmission shifts smoother. |

Does putting in an oil besides the Vic Oil put us at risk of voiding the warranty? Just curious since I dished out the extra $$'s for the 5 year warranty. |

| drain all the oil out than ride till it stops, wont make ANY niose then...
any oil is good... given the option... but a full synth oil is better. imho. the noise should get better with miles.

Gainesville Fl Home of the Gators | It was explained to my by the Vision drive line engineer this way. Given the weight of the bike, and the fact that most acceleration was done in 2-3-4; the interface angle of the gears was steeper. This gives more contact area, and a stronger surface for the heavier torque loads. the compromise was slightly more noise in those gears |

I have seen others say this...but it does get better with the miles.
I put my dad on the bike and when he came back he complained about all the engine noise and clunky tranny. That was at 250 miles. I came back to him two weeks later with 2,000 miles on it and he could not believe how quieter it was and smoother. Yes...you read that right. 2,000 miles after only a couple of weeks. I put the first 500 in the first week and then 1600 the following week with a trip to Vegas and back. Woohoo! What a great ride!
The most noticeable improvement was when a recall remapped the bike too. It was amazing the difference. Smoother shifting and not very much engine noise.
So, just give it some time. You will love the bike more and more as the miles and miles add up! |
