Ok let me start off by saying I love my Vision and I am very very happy with my local dealer. Here is the BUT! I have been having problems with my bike for some time now. I was on a ride one day when my bike started making a funny noise. It seemed like a sucking noise. I was about a mile from my dealer so I stopped in and had them check it. They told me it was nothing and next time I was in for service I should have them check it. About a week went by and it developed a squealing sound so once again I brought it to the dealer. They called me back and told me they needed to pull the engine and split the casing. About 6 weeks later I got the bike back. They told me it was a bad bearing and I should be all set but the noise was still there. The mechanic said Victory is aware of the problem and have told them the bike was fine. I rode the bike for a couple weeks and the noise got bad again. Plus when the bike was on the kickstand it would squeal and nock. I took it back and they pulled the engine again. This time they told me the clutch fork was bent and the gears where worn down. They replaced the parts and put then engine back in (another 4 weeks). When I showed up to pick up my bike I had them start it to see how it sounded. There it was as bad as ever! The squeal and knocking! When he picked up the bike off the kickstand the knocking went away! So he agreed to take it back in and call Victory and see what he should do. I told him I was without a bike for 10 weeks now and I was pist! This is a 1 year old bike. He talked to the owner and they set me up on a loaner. ( Like I said I have no problem with my dealer) It has been a week and a half so I called them to see what they found. He told me they replaced the kickstand and talked to Victory but the noise is still there. He said Victory told him its normal and they checked all the tolerances and everything seemed normal. They told me (same as before) that Victory said they have it on record so if I have another problem it should be covered. Now my question to all of you is what would you do if it was you. I am going tomorrow to pick the bike up. I am not happy that they can't seem to fix the problem. They tell me its within acceptable levels. Just looking for some input. Has anyone heard of this issue and what are your opinions?

Fred, it would be super helpful if you could post a video (with sound of course) so we can hear what your talking about. Take your camera up to the dealership and post a vid on YouTube. I bet KevinX can diagnose it just with the video... Make sure you capture the sound at idle on the kick stand. Rev it to about 1500-2000 on the kickstand and do the same with it off the kickstand...

Check with the Consumer Affairs office near you. This might be a "Lemon Law" situation. IMHO

Fred - Did I meet you at MOMS openhouse where you also had Lloyd look at it? If it wasn't you, there was another Vision there that had a similar problem and had been in the shop more than on the street. The engine would knock if run while on its kickstand. As soon as it was brought upright, the knock went away. Without going into the engine (and without his shop handy) Lloyd suggested running the oil level higher than usual to see if the knock stopped. He wondered if it was just one of the few Vics that need a little more oil that the dipstick indicates.

I had an oil problem with my 08. I would go thru 1 qt. every 2500 miles. Dealer was aware and so was Victory. I still rode it for a year then started to notice smoke on hard acceleration. They cracked the engine and found the head to be poreous.

Everything replaced under extended warranty, no deductable since they knew it was an old problem.

I say ride the hell out of the bike til you feel its really bad. Victory WILL stand behind the warranty.

Jedi Jeff - Yes that was me. Adding oil did nothing to help the problem. That was before they pulled the engine out the second time.

The bike burns no oil.

The dealer has been great and has really tried to help me. I am leaving now to pick up the bike. We will see what happens

What the hell did they replace the kickstand for??
You asked if it was "My" bike what would i do?? After 10 weeks i would INSIST on them replacing the entire engine. Not splitting the case not changing the bearings or the Kahootsin valve ! i want a new one. You say your happy with the dealer, but there is no excuse for that kind of time going by and no results. JMHO

Ok I posted a video of the sound my bike is making on youtube. here is the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnc28vi9hTA
I was hopping it would get better! It didn't! The reason they changed the kickstand was becouse of the 2nd sound. that was a knocking sound but the new kickstand seems to have fixed that problem. Go figure?

I wouldn't pick the bike up until they FIX it. I'd be on the phone WITH the dealer to Victory and would TELL them they will fix it and you don't care what they have to do or what it costs them, it is broke and they are NOT fixing it by telling you they are aware of it. Insist they either fix it or replace it, period no more discussion.

Your bike starts hard, and when it is running kinda makes the same sound as when it was starting. Maybe a starter issue...drag. I didn't here a knocking.

The knocking noise seems to have been fixed when they replaced the kickstand. The dealer said the bike was leaning over too far. I didn't believe the explanation but it appears to have fixed that problem. The remaining issue is the noise that sounds like a squealing fan belt. Most visions make this noise but it is hardly noticable. The problem I have is that it is extremely loud and didn't always make the noise. It started after I had 19000 miles on the bike. I did pick the bike up and they told me that Victory insists it is within spec. The video really doesn't give a good indication of the volume of the noise. The noise dissipates at 1500 rpms I have S1L2 pipes and loyd's vfmIII on it.

Holy Crap! Send KevinX a PM with a link to your video. If anyone would know what this is, Kevin would...

That's some scary stuff right there.....

A second opinion from another Victory dealer may be worth the drive? If they have seen this problem before and can fix it quickly, its a win.

Of course, if you have a long comfortable ride and they find nothing its still a win!

I feel like Gomer, "rev it up". My guess is the plate on top of the airbox under the console is not sealed well. Thus it is also sucking dirty air into your engine.

I did check the plate. I was even thinking of putting a Lloyd air filter on there. The sound seems to be coming from the front lower part of the motor. The 1st thing the dealer checked for was A air leak. Lloyd also sprayed something around all the intake gaskets to see if there where any leaks. They seemed good. I now have 22k on the bike and it running strong. It seems like I?m the only nut around that rides in this weather lol 17 deg today. The thing that drives me nuts is I have S1L2 pipes and the eng. Sound is louder!

Jeff I think your right. Lloyd seems to really know what he is doing. I too think its got something to do with the chain or tensioners but the bike ran fine for almost a year and 19k miles. I have brought that up with my dealer but they didn?t think that was the problem. I am going to stop by the dealer that is close to you on my way home from work tonight. That is if there parking lot isn't iced up. Thats a steep hill into the parking lot when it's iced over and your on 2 wheels lol
