I love the pics of the blacked out Visions on here, so I decided to try it myself. I got most of the silver off tonight, ready to be painted. The service manual was a godsend for me! I am not super knowledgeable when it comes to tearing into bikes.

Two questions:

1) Will making the radio console cover black cause any heat issues?

2) How do the rear tip overs come off? I am not brave enough to take the whole darn rear end apart without knowing what I am up against.

I hope mine turns out as nice as all the others I have seen here! Will post pics when done.

The Geek.

The 10th Anniversary bikes come stock with the console painted black, no issues.

Many have painted the console black, including me. I hated the glare. This year in San Antonio we had over 60 days with a high of over 100 degrees. No problems with the radio and the heat.

3 bolts each and the rear tip-overs come right off. I didn't need to remove any body panels when I changed mine out for the powder coated ones I have.

if you have the glare, you'll take anything that comes with painting the console black. But there has been no issues at all with painting it black, especially the glare. The single most important mod for me that I've made to the Vision.

Tip over protection comes right off as described, easy peasy...

have fun with your project...

I also wanted to give props to (I think) Lone Rider for the shortcut on the passenger handgrip removal. Very slick!

Is there a good reason to powder coat these rather than paint? I got them off tonight.

Thanks to all who replied! I love this site!

I have my handlebars, front and rear tip-overs done in a wrinkle-finish powdercoat done by a buddy of mine's son. They look awesome and I'm the only one who has them done that way -
