| SHAMELESS PLUG for Vision-riders.com This week as we finalized our taxes, I was looking over my youngest child's return I realized that she had made a pretty decent chunk of change working part time last year. I also determined that her bank account was empty and that she has absolutely NOTHING to show for her work except perhaps the knowledge that the baristas at Starbucks know her order. The resulting family discussion about $5.00 cups of coffee, endless trips to local fast food joints and the relative perceived value of other expenditures got me thinking about what I spend MY money on, what I value, and where I spend my free time. One of the best expenditures of my free time since 2008 has right here on Vision-Riders.com. I have learned things on this board that have saved me money and an untold amount of aggravation. I have picked up insights into bad riding behaviors that I have tried to unlearn. The MOABL project which SongFan wrote up, and KansasGuardsman's middle brake light mod may quite possibly one day save someone's life. I got a "group buy" discount from a manufacturer on a brand new product for the Vision. I also like to think that I have developed friendships with some of you (although that may be nothing more than self-delusion - I'm still looking into those dark corners). Pretty valuable stuff! For me, this site is worth paying for, and yet they don't require that we do so. I pay money to belong to other sites that I get a lot less out of. I'm not sure if all of you are aware, but Vision-Riders.com has a link where you can contribute to their efforts, keep the site online and help defray the cost of improvements. I was pleased to be able to make a small contribution again this year. I have no doubt that in these tough economic times every little bit helps; after all there are only so many t-shirts that they can sell and my shirt drawer is already full. It was my way of saying "Thank You" to the folks that have given us this place to congregate and share info, stories and our love of these fantastic motorcycles.
