Most people who mess with bikes just don't relize how much a bike can mean to a person.
I had a guy turn my bike around at work one day. If it had happened anywhere else or I
didn't need my job I would have ripped his head off and SH** down his throat. After
I cooled off he admitted to doing it. I explained in very frank language that you just don't
f*** with a mans ride. After he relized he would have probley lost his job and had to pay
for any damage done if he had dropped it he came around. I told him messing with another
mans bike is like fu**ing his wife. Good job keeping your head.

Well you could walk up to him and ask if he has a wife or girlfriend. Then ask if you can climb on her and see how she feels.. He might attack you first..

I have a Scorpio SR-i900 alarm system, it would trip if he climbed on it. If you buy one of these get the bike specific harness. Worked slick. The other item I have used is the Xena XX-14 alarm also seems to be a good deterrent in public places.

Well I surely wouldn't tell you how to respond BUT consider this; How many OTHER bikes will he sit on in he future because you didn't say something? Some people have NO respect for others property, others are just clueless. I try to never get mad, but I would have politely told him he had less than 1 second to get off my bike or he'd be walking with a permanent limp from my boot up his @$$.
This has happened to me in the past as I'm sure it has many here. Sorry it caused you agro.......

You simply don't touch someones elses bike. I thought everyone was born with this knowledge. Kind of like eating, no one teaches you, you just know. I guess some people are just born stupid and survive because mommy force feeds them. Darwinism doesn't have a chance these days.

Remember that helmets are a multifunctional device....................... I've been know to let some fool put lip prints on my helmet when he tried to give me grief after I "requested" him to dismount my bike. So far I haven't had this problem with my Vision - just lookers is all.
The incident with the helmet occurred in my far gone youth - not sure what I'd do now but sure would be tempting.

I do worry about this. My Vision is parked under surveillance cameras and my business has from two to three off duty city police officers in uniform on premise. After almost two years of daily riding most of the employees and all of the officers know who owns the motorcycles in the parking area.

I have had many calls over the years about people checking out the motorcycle area but no one has ever touched a bike that I am aware of. In the next two years a 8 foot iron fence will be going up around the area and I will feel better since foot traffic will be reduced to employees.

You showed great restraint. I would hope that I could hold back as well.

Ride Safe!

What you want to do in these situations is get them away from your vehicle and stay away from your vehicle. I would have taken a picture with my phone and then walked up to him and asked "Can I help you?" This normally will get anyone to realise that you are the owner and not appreciative of what they are doing. The last thing you want to do is piss them off so that they damage your bike while your not looking. I have a 65 shelby cobra replica and its way worse with it than my vision. I have actually walked out to my car with someone sitting in it getting thier picture made. I wanted to kick out all his teeth but instead I kill them with kindness to get them away and stay away. You never know who has a gun these days and who will come back to key or kick over your bike. If the kindness route doesnt work, by all means beat the sh!t out them. It hasnt failed me yet though.

I think that eagle has it right... just we get REALLY protective over what we value and after so many years of hand me downs, I am really proud of my machine, one of the few thaings I have that I got 'new'. To all, please get the travel cover and use it whenever out of site of the bike. No one can sit on it then. The patch I found on another site and any t-shirt place will make up a patch for you. I will get some made if needed just special for Trek! We understand the boil, the need for constraint and a wife in another sense! This forum can help for venting for those without a wife unit to calm us down.... Let it rip boys! Way better than a record.

Scorpio Alarm with perameter sensor would do the job without any intervention at all. Once the idiot gets close the alarm sends out warning beeps, any additional presence would cause it to sound off. At that point you have a right to intervene but that is unlikely. Most folks would just stand back. I have one and it is very effective keeping the gaukers at a safe distance. Scorpio makes a harness for the Vision making the install a snap.

Sure would save a lot of lives, or at least hospital bills for some.

an alarm will Not stop someone from getting on your bike. i know this because it happened to me! i had a honda nighthawk in the 90s. i had an alarm with motion detection. i was at a burger king when all the sudden my alarm went off. i looked outside and a lady was lifting her son to sit on my bike! since there wasnt many cars in the parkinglot i knew which one was hers. and i sat on her hood. she got upset with that, so i flipped out! i think the alarm made the little boy want to sit on it more! most motorcycle alarms sound like toys/video games. unlike a cars alarm system. too be completely honest anytime my mc alarm went off No one cared. even when it false alarmed no one gave a damn..

I caved in to a great set of hooters. I was in an Indian casino recently and as I came out with my pockets turned inside out I saw a sensational looking woman sitting on a retaining wall admiring the view of the Verde Valley-as I admired the view of her. She smiled real nice at me (or it was gas) and I'm afraid my smile was 1/4 smile and 3/4 leer and lots of drool. Then I heard a voice in very broken German/English asking to take a picture of my Vision. Looking away from the woman was difficult. I think my eyes made a velcro ripping sound as I looked from her to him. He said he wanted his wife in the photo with the bike. Sure, I said in a war movie German accent. I pointed to the side of the bike for her to stand. Instead she hopped up on the bike and Hans took her photo. All I could say was Vunderbar. I was sorry I did not have my camera and I was sorry she didn't scuff the paint so I could have something to remember her by. I did take the seat off and have it mounted on my garage wall.

Well, the kid in the picture here wanted to sit on my bike today at McDonalds. You can tell from my expression what I thought about that!

I would have walked up and told him to get the hell off and that he had a better chance sleeping with my wife than he did getting on top of my Vision. Then I would have at least pushed him. I have always learned you don't touch another mans toys without asking.

I am not near forgiving enough to greet ignorant assholes politely or settle things of this nature with a camera. I am fairly easy going and don't look for fights but had I been you I think this young man may have just found one. This dip-shit would have had all of 3 seconds to get off my bike and out of my reach before he got a serious lesson on how to respect other peoples property. Job or no job this jerk off had no right to touch your personal property and if he didn't have enough common sense to know this it was time for him to learn.
