New York | Hi everyone,
I'm a proud new owner of a 2009 Victory Vision Tour Premium with the s1/l1 pipes with gatlin gun tips.
This is my first post here and first question. I traded in a 2005 Honda VTX 1300R and was told by the sales manager when I bought the Honda, never to use any kind of keyring with anything dangling off it, even rubber.. it will make scratches on the abs plastic. I was wondering if something similar dangling off the Vision key ring on the brushed chrome console would cause scratches. Thanks in advance!

I use the key and only the key. I wish it was like my last Kawasaki, turn the key on and put it back in your pocket.

| When I bought my 2008 Vision TP, the saleman but the key on a key ring (which was rubber). When I got home (300 miles later), I noticed a wear mark wear the key ring had rubbed. Needless to say the key ring went in the garbage! |

Meadow, Texas | I use the rubber Victory key ring but I also have a mount for my GPS that it usually leans on. Did have a metal one at first and it marred the cover - don't use that one again.
And congrats on your new Vision. I also had a 2005 VTX 1300R and never looked back.
I wouldn't have any metal ring dangling off the key - maybe a braided nylon or something like that.
But again congrats on your new bike.

Welcome aboard, this is the place for answers, and some entertainment as well.
If you must use or have a special key ring you want to carry, there are clear paint protective films available that can be cut to any shape, such as around the ignition key trim, that will protect and can be removed or replaced as needed with no permanent damage to the surface. | 25k using a rubber key ring with NO damage at all to the console. It does however leave a black mark that I need to wipe off after a month or so without a bath, lol........
Ok you got me, I don't give the bike a bath each month either if I can help it. Better to ride. So Victory tip of the day, Honda Spray Cleaner Detailer. You'll never want to wash your bike again....... |

Montreal, QC Canada | Another option is to go keyless with the Guard Dawg Security system. Got it on ours and love it....get within 10 ft of the bike and turn the power on. |

Northeast Ohio | I learned my lesson from my old 2001 Gold Wing. Key rings whether leather, rubber, plastic, or other material will scratch for sure when moved around by vibration or wind. I tried them all. I even tried lots of extra coats of wax around the key area. No luck
The key alone is my choice. Even if a key ring wouldn't scratch, I wouldn't use one because the key to a Vision is almost as good looking as the bike.

Richmond, Virginia | I have a 600.00 custom painted console to match the 2010 Vision skins, the rubber keyring scuffed the paint within 30 miles so after having that buffed off, i wanted something attached to the key to make it easy to find in my pocket or on table. I knot tied a shoestring width of acrylic ribbon onto the key which makes it easy to see and isnt long enough to flap in the breeze or hit anything to damage it. The funny part is once you loop it in and tie the knot, the two pieces look like a "V" ha ha ha ha works great costs nothing. |

Boydsville, AR United States | I use the key, and a small ring on it to clip on my belt when parked. Too many pockets to loose a key in, ya know. The small ring hanges on the key, and doesn't touch a thing. |

NE Florida Jacksonville | I use just the key alone, but when I park her I put the key on a small carabiner clip attached to my pocket knife. That makes it easy to fish out of my pocket. |

Regina Saskatchewan Canada | I had a flat key cut, then I took the chrome end from a old Yamaha Virago grip, cut a slot into it and siliconed the key into it. This you know you've got it your pocket.

VaRyder, buddy im at a loss for words on that key ring of yours..... however from the photos, it looks like it or something has done a number on the paint on your console unless those are light reflections and not chips/scratches etc cant tell |

hmmm, thanks, I think. The scratches etc. has nothing to do with the key ring. In being feed up with the glare from the white console, I did my own paint job and did not let it cure well enough, or do a primer. That was done 2 years ago and I've not been vain enough to go back and fix it. I do plan on doing a carbon fiber or powdercoat one day, but at 70,000 almost on the clock I like to spend my money on tires instead. |
