Hi all , well it had to happen . I finally have a problem with my Vision . I have an 09 Vision Street , and the dash gear position display is playing up . When in first it alternates between 1 and 2 , and so on in second between 2 and 3 . I have found by applying light upward gear lever pressure with my foot , the problem is fixed , displaying only the correct gear . If I let if go it alternates again . I have seen a few fixes here , ranging from new bolt on the gear selection plate , tighten up the bolt and even change oil fixes it . I need so more details , and exactly what your Victory tech did to fix it . It is an 09 , and reading here that should not have been a problem for this year , but here we are , Thanks MartyQ

The bolt will be first to do, then the switch. The bolt has worked for me but there are certain times when it still is a little confused on which gear it is in. If mine gets any worse the switch will be next for my mech.

At the 10th anniversary, I talked to a couple Vic reps. They new of the problem. I think you submit a warranty claim for gear indicator upgrade, lower gear indicator upgrade, something like that, and it should be covered. The guys seemed kinda disappointed when I told them I tried to submit a claim and was informed I had to pay the labor till the problem was found. That's when they told me how to submit the claim.

+1 now let me throw a grenade in here. Victory is also saying that using non-vic oil will also make the problem occur. Remember, don't shoot the messenger and no fragbacks.

Mine has started also o my '09.  It just hasn't been a priority to have fixed.  And my dealer always uses Vic oil, nothing else has been in it.

Last year when mine first started to do it. The dealer said to use Vic oil. I did an a few hundred miles later same issue.. every time I change my oil no matter what brand it goes away and then comes back In A few hundred miles. The 3 brands I've used has been victory oil change kit, amsoil and mobil1 motorcycle oil. It does it with all 3 brands..

The science of the gear indicator is shaky at best. I believe the bolt fix will take care of your problem, and the oil has no relation to the problem. I've switched back and forth on oil and have not notice any changes from one to the other. I find that the gear indicator, mpg and the tempature display is no more than a source of entertainment for me, however, they are never far off from what they should be saying. I'm just saying...

Took mine to the dealer last week for the 20K service and asked them to look at the gear display problem. The service manager said we don't have much luck with fixing that. What ever they did it worked........ for now anyway.

Mine bounces around and has since almost new. It is right most of the time but in the grand scheme of life it isn't a necessity

I'm curious as to your actual issue. Are you getting the same false readings. It may be the actual switch itself and may require going back to the dealer. I'm just guessing.

When shifting to neutral the selector may read 1st or 2nd gear. This goes away in 4 or 5 seconds. From time to time I have even gotten an R at the same point that also goes away. My problem is not with the 1, 2, thing it's getting the R and I have no reverse installed on the bike. No harm for now the bike runs flawlessly but this will be investigated and fixed while still under the first year of factory warranty.
I think it's the switch.

Mine did it when I first bought the bike. It was intermittant so I couldn't repeat the problem when at the dealer. As a result, they couldn't fix a problem they couldn't see. They took note of my complaint and said they would fix it if it continued out of warranty.

After about 4 months of owning the bike it stopped misreading. Hasn't misread it in the last 12k miles. Had nothing to do with oil because I did not change it until another 2 months or so after it started reading correctly. I have a gut feeling the problem will come back eventually.
