I have looked at a 10 8 ball Vision for my wife and I too do some 2 up riding. I am trading in a 08 1200 Sportster, it 's also the only bike I have ridden. Is there any thing too look out for or be concerned about with this choice. I will have to keep it for a long time and don't want any problems down the road.
Thanks in advance.

I work as a tech at a dealership. And i dont want to turn you away from the 8-ball Vision, but unless you are really getting a serious discount on the bike, you need to look hard at what you are getting for your money. The Cross bikes or a used 08 or 09 vision and having it lowered you very well could get alot more bike for your buck. Get a tour premium and if you dont want the trunk now, take it off and stick it in the attic till your ready for it. I love the 8-ball Vision and would like to have one, but i have a hard time justifying the cost for a stripped down vision. And anyone here knows i mean STRIPPED. even cables on the saddle bag door instead of the gas shock. Good luck in your quest. The bike is SOLID. Yes there have been issues and oddities and unusual quirks with the bike, mostly first year bikes. I happen to own an 08 i just put 38K on after owning it 25 months. I have to depend on my ride, its the only vehicle i have owned the last number of years and need it every single day to do anything.

Tha lack of extras is one of the things that does appeal to me. The only thing I plan to add in the future is cruise control and a backrest with a luggage rack. I have done a bit of research and have found that in comparison to HD the only serious drawback is the lack of dealers,I.E. there are only 4 dealers within a 2 hour drive. They are offering it at 16500 and 4.99 apr.

If you get this in time make the dealer give you for free the 1000 mile check up

Finally, someone who appreciates the Vision8 for what it is and not bag it for what it aint'. You won't go wrong with the Vision - 81,900 on my '08 with no major issues except the fuel pump at 60,000 or so. Just did a 6,500 mile trip to cali and back and kept it at full throttle there and back.

Push for lower apr and extended warranty thrown in at that price!

varyder-----Your accounts of life with a Vision have been both entertaining and a source of reason for my choice. I may have been wrong about the APR, I think it's 1.99% and a 2 year warrenty. It's the Red Tag Sale that is being offered right now. I have been lurking since the introduction of the 8Ball. I am just wanting to make sure that I'm on the right track as this bike will be with me for a very long time.

I have a 2010 8ball Vision and chose that over the full touring model. I wanted a blacked out bike that had ONLY the options I wanted. To take a full tourer and make it like the 8ball would have been very pricey (blacked out engine, forks, calipers, rotors, handlebars, console, side molding, valance, etc.). Plus I think the stock 8ball wheels look killer. Now I've added some of the options that I like and it's almost one-of-a-kind. It also sits lower and handles (I think) better that a full-tour model. The only thing that I could complain about is the whine in 4th gear but its relative to the noise of other gears. Victory fixed this in 2011 but they took away the rear tip-over protectors. Besides, you were asking about a 2010.

I should also add that I've done extensive riding on a Cross Country and while its a GREAT bike with superior storage, it is DIFFERENT from the Vision. When I got home from the Victory press ride after putting on a thousand miles on the CC, I took my 8balll Vision out for a spin I knew I had chosen the right bike for me. I like sitting IN the Vision whereas I felt like I sat ON the CC.

If your dealer has a demo day coming up go and sign up for a ride; you get $500.00 off plus they had coupon for $1000.00 in options. Don't know if the option thing is still on but worth checking.

wayne, if it makes you feel any better, when I finally realized that I really wanted to ride, yet didn't have the disposable income for toys, I step beyond practical and decided if I was going to get a motorcycle I was going to ride it everyday. The underlying truth is I have the passion to ride and will do whatever I need to keep it on the road. Other than the tires and oil changes there has not much else that I needed to do. At 81,000 miles I believe I'm looking at 200,000 miles now and the only real concern at the moment is electronics. That is something that all bikes of today have and they are not cheap.

When I rolled the VV off the showroom, I was not given any discounts, or any special incentives, the dealer said they couldn't do any or had any to give me. I might have gotten some menial perks here and there, but nothing off the sticker price, period. But with that said, I did not look back even when I heard of some great deals other other dealers may have been given. I got mine in Nov. 07, long before they knew how well the Visions would be selling.

I do find myself using the trunk more than I thought I would and have had it on all summer. But if I had a trailer, that would change in a heart-beat. The thing about any Vision, they are essential the same. You can build and take away from anyone to make it like another. The only major difference in the black beauty is that the rear shock set up and the front forks are different. I don't know if the Vision8 was an accidental genius on Victory's part because they were already touting that the Vision was the lowest sitting in its class. But if any bike will grab the cross overs from the biker world, the Vision8 is it.

I had a choice between at 2009 Tour Premium or the 2010 8Ball w/cruise, power wind shield and tour pack for about the same price (8ball 300 cheaper). I prefered the look and ride of the 8 Ball, if I want a radio or heated grips and seat I can add them for less than blacking out the Tour and changing the wheels. Never had a radio and don't know if I want one The only thing that I would have prefered on the Tour was the hydraulic clutch vs the cable.
Good luck.

Its much easier to take a regular model and customize it to your likeings. They charge you over 3k for heated seats.. grips..and badge lites. You can black out the bike easy... just depends how far you want to go.. I would rather spend 3k on custom stuff. Its a great looking bike..( 8 ball ). but a little pricey for what they offer. You could get a full blown custom flame job for $2500. Just food for thought. If you do get a black vision... i offer a set of turn signals and rear tail lites that are blacked out. Just email me if you are interested. HMD520@yahoo.com

Thanks to all for the replies. I bought the 8Ball. Took it for an overnight demo on Tues. and signed the papers on Wed. I have been riding a Sportster for the last 1.5 years, so anything is an improvement. Not dogging HD just saying. I already have heated gloves And don't see a need at this time for more heat as I have rode in cold weather last winter. If I were to complain it would be about the mufflers. They are way to quiet. My wife likes it that way, but the redneck biker in me wants it loud. It will happen with time. I do ride a fair amount (430 miles on the bike so far) so fuel consumption and comfort were top priorities. I spend 10 plus hours a day in a truck listening to sat. radio so I didn't want one on the bike. It is taking some time to get used to the way it handles. So far I'm pleased with the bike and hope that my wife will be as happy with it as I am. Her wanting to ride with me is the main reason I bought it. Sorry for the long post.

woohoo! Post on, if you notice you have a long way to catch up to the ValongwindedmultiplekeyboardRyder. That guy is something else. Oh yeah, he has a few miles on his and it gives you a goal to set. Since you are used to high mileage, it should be easily attainable.

Congratulations Wayne, and welcome. Keep us updated. You may not need more heat, but your wife will definitely be riding with you more now. You might consider getting her some heated gear in the future. The Vision will extend your riding season a bunch by itself, and heated gear extends it even more. We really enjoy fall color rides, and my wife is eager to go since I got her some heated gear. She even goes on the New Year's Day rides now.

This afternoon the wife and I went for a short ride. I have never rode 2 up and she has been a passnger only a few times. We still haven't gotten the back rest yet which made her nervous and made her move forward crowding me a bit. Came to a stop sign to make a right turn, went to put my feet down and caught my right leg on the edge of her shoe. The bike went down on the right side light to medium hard and we both stepped off as it did. Did as the youtube videos insturcted to right the bike and got back under way. The tip over protectors did thier job perfectly. Most importantly, she was a real trooper about it and got right back on. Had this been the other American brand I don't think things would have turned out so well. So far I'm still very pleased with the bike. Time to schedule the 500 mile break in service.

Not implying anything in your riding ability, but I would ride the bike alone for many miles prior to riding two-up. Take some spins in the parking lots, back roads and side streets and get really comfortable with the bike. Between the posts here we've been reading lately and seeing some things go on around where I live with people riding motorcycles, I encourage practicing with your ride. If we know how dangereous it is to ride a motorcycle, we can enjoy it more when we have begun to master the basics.

Grats, glad you got the bike you wanted. I agree 100% with having a backrest. When Anny decides to lay down I just tuck my legs in, not sure how that would work for the passenger.
Now you can make a list for Santa.

Varyder- I agree that I need more time on the bike getting used to it before doing long 2 up trips. This was more of an "around the block expirment" to find the things that she and I both will need to focus on. I am also the type of person that learns best when I jump into the subject at hand. Luckily we live in a subdivision with several cul-de-sacs (Why are they called that?) that will allow lots of practice.
