Maybe I have missed it in the posts, but I was curious as to a fix for the Gear Indicator.

My Vision, which has been pretty darn good on problems, has always had an issue with deciding whether it is in first or second. Even after freshly changed oil, which I think I read in other posts helps.

The other day, I was cruising steady at around 60 MPH. The indicator kept switching between 5th & 6th while cruising in 5th.

I do not have a local dealership, so it isn't something I will have looked at anytime soon. I was just curious what the fix is, and if one could do it theirself without tearing too much apart.

Thanks.

Herb

Mine would not indicate 6th gear a few months after I bought it. Dealer replaced the sending unit and 25,000 miles later it is fine.

Anyone know the cost of the sending unit & labor...as some of us are off warranty?

If it's just the different bolts and washer that fixes it and not the sending unit itself, it would run you about $165 to $185 including the side cover gasket that needs to be replaced when it's done. I don't know the cost of the sending unit itself. For mine (bolt fix), the parts were less than $40 of the total. I imagine the labor to change the sending unit should be about the same as this fix but I'm no mechanic so just my opinion. I only know the price because the dealer asked if I was willing to pay to fix it if the extended warranty didn't cover it. Luckily it did, so no charge to me.
